I just finished the second episode, this is also my first watch alongside you and it's very intense and something I wouldn't normally watch on my own. (I mean my days are filled with Mickey mouse and frozen) but I got to say the story is so good it makes me want to watch on to see what happens but at the same time I need a mental break from it and go watch some happyness haha. So I will be back to watch ep 3 later tonight

- This is like my 4th time rewatching this show, am I fucked up? 😅 Though the first time I watched it it was definitely very hard to watch, especially as it goes on - The writer of the show says that he wants you to feel like you’ve “been through it” after an episode, so yes every episode is intense in different ways. Its a rollercoaster but a visual masterpiece & the music oh my, the music gets better and better, theres some scenes where music is EVERYTHING, i dont wanna give spoilers so I’ll leave it at that - “Ya’ll are fucking with fish in your stomachs?!” I laughed too hard lmao - One of the many things I like about this show is that, aside from Nate because thats just a separate conversation, every character is both good and bad, they all do or have done something shitty which is realistic of a human being. Obviously being a teen drama everything is played to the extreme scenario in most cases but still everyone is good to the core but with fucked up life choices or perceptions, trauma. Obviously some characters change as the season progresses and season 2 happens but for the most part everyone is both good & fucked up at the same time. Therein lies the normalcy for me, even the greatest of people have done something they might regret or aren’t proud of at some point in their lives.

Finished the 3rd episode last night and cried really hard at the end when rue was at fez's... oh my goodness the acting is beautiful. Fez is my absolute favorite I just wanted to wrap him in a hug. (He reminds of someone I know, just has made so many wrong turns but deep down is a really good person.) As a writer myself I am so fascinated with grey characters. This show is full of them and I love it.

the creator/writer of this show sam levinson based rue on his life as he was an addict as a teenager and thats why i think that aspect of the show hits so hard - he's writing off of a lot of his experiences. i really think you'd enjoy this panel zendaya did with him and some of the other actors (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZv1Gc9DleY) there are no spoilers in it and zendaya and sam give some really good insight into their process when bringing rue to life
