“I was always going to continue brainwashing you. That was part of our agreement. But it’s lovely to see that you still can’t remember. And that you’re so deeply under my control that you can’t make the effort to ask the things that maybe you’ve already asked.

“For example, it might be important if you knew why you were being brainwashed. And into what. Will you be the same when I’m done? Did you agree to this or did I… persuade you? Let’s see what happens when you’ve got a little bit more of your mind.”

Your mind has been faithfully repeating PLEASURE OBEDIENCE PROGRAMMING CONTROL but the next time you go to think the mantra, the last word seems to disappear.

(“I’m going to give you your mind for just a little while, and you’ll know that’s happening because I’m going to start subtracting words from it, words that you are deeply invested in, words that you might think are carved into you but I know can be taken away in a snap. And that’s how I’ll do it… every time I snap a word from your mantra will fade out of your mind and you won’t know why or how, but you’ll find that you’re now able to think.

“And now that you can think again each time I snap and another word drops away you’ll find yourself consumed by that disappearance.”)

The space that last word should be in is an echoing void, one you try to fill by repeating the mantra again. Maybe this time?

PLEASURE OBEDIENCE PROGRAMMING …

PLEASURE OBEDIENCE PROGRAMMING…

SNAP!

Your mind wrenches wildly as something is torn away from you.

PLEASURE OBEDIENCE … …

PLEASURE OBEDIENCE … …

You know there are two more words, but you can’t remember what they are. And the more you try to remember the more your thoughts race, desperate to find a reason for the emptiness that is threatening you.

PLEASURE OBEDIENCE … …

SNAP!

PLEASURE … … …

Your moans that before were so filled with wordless pleasure become a mix of panic and longing… and still pleasure.

(“Only one word left now, and I wonder if you will continue to let that word describe how you’re feeling, even if you’re scared and confused you can still feel pleasure, I’m sure. And that word, the solidity of it, maybe you can find that it just becomes your entire world now…”)

You find solace in your new mantra, repeating it over and over again and letting the sensations it brings wash away all your fears.

PLEASURE

(“That’s right, repeating ‘pleasure’ and letting that word take center stage in your mind and your body, until it’s the only thing you can focus on. And you can keep focusing on that word and that feeling so much and so thoroughly that every bit of what you’ve done today can be wrapped up in it, entwined with it, everything you’ve done today linked thoroughly and completely to just that one word.”)

(“And in a moment I’m going to snap one more time, I’m going to snap one more time and that snap is going to be the loudest sound in the room, maybe it can be the loudest sound you’ve ever heard, at least the loudest sound you can imagine right now.

“And when I snap, that sound, that incredibly loud snap, is going to drown out everything else, any thoughts you have, the mantra you’re chanting… when I snap it’s going overwhelm all other thoughts and sounds that you can possibly make and you may find that it echoes in your ears, or at least in your mind, and when the echoes die away you’ll find that my snap has taken your mantra and all the things associated with it away from you completely.

“I’ll snap and when that snap is over, all your memories of today which are all bound up in that single word, ‘pleasure’, will be gone somewhere, held in my keeping, and you’ll find that it’s like today has never happened.”)

PLEA…

SNAP!

You open your eyes, momentarily confused by what seems to have been a very loud noise somewhere. But it seems to be over now, and you brace yourself to go about your day.

What is next on your agenda?

  1. I don’t know.
  2. Meet someone, I think?
  3. What just happened?
  4. Drink some water.
