So for the names that are revealed so far and what they are usually called: - Hinata Shoyo, we just call him Hinata - Kageyama Tobio, everyone calls him Kageyama - Sawamura Daichi, the captain. Everyone just calls him by his first name, Daichi - Tanaka, the baldie/Connie one

Just a bit of fun facts. The original creator(story & art) Haruichi Furudate started out with a horror manga, which I think adds some nice details in haikyuu. He also used to play volleyball himself, so he actually knows the game and the play.

What Haikyuu does great is that it doesn’t only focus on Hinata (the orange haired) which is known as the so called main protagonist but on a lot of characters in this show. To me, many characters in this anime could’ve had an entire show written based off of them. The writing of characteristic development in this show is one of the reasons that makes it so lovable by a lot of the fans! And since this show is so realistic and relatable, you’d feel very attached to the show itself as well as the characters. Personally, that’s the best part of Haikyuu.. “There’s no villains but only rivals.”

You haven’t gotten to some parts that display what I’m about to say that well, but I don’t think this is really any spoiler, so I’ll say it here. I think Haikyuu gets you emotionally invested. Especially when you’re watching a sport you may not know the rules to or understand the essence of, it’s easy to feel detached and not pay much interest to everything that’s going on. But Haikyuu breaks it down for anyone to understand easily even if you don’t know much about it. It captures those beautiful and emotional moments so well which you could easily overlook either because you don’t know the sport well, you don’t like the sport and want nothing to do with it irl, or you’re busy focusing on the technical aspects and the strategical thinking involved in the sport, especially if you play the sport yourself. It does a fantastic job displaying the charm of sports but volleyball in particular. I can say that confidently as I used to play volleyball and other sports when I was younger, but I’m convinced it would be hard to not be moved at all at one point or another or fail to see it’s charm even if you may be someone who doesn’t like it or sports in general (or you just don’t play any sports or know anything about volleyball specifically) because of how well the whole story is set up and how well the anime as a whole is made.

Also fun fact, since Haikyuu made a humongous impact on Japan’s high school volleyball (or just volleyball in general), this first opening theme song of this season was actually played during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021! This anime basically revived boy’s high school volleyball in Japan after it is aired. Before Haikyuu, the popular sports in schools would be baseball, soccer and basketball rather than volleyball.

Hinata is the main protagonist, but haikyuu is a story told through the world it built. It’s almost like experiencing the world of Haikyuu through Hinata’s perspective. The world of haikyuu is so expansive, and the journeys of all the characters tell the story of Haikyuu. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another series tell a story quite in this way before. Rather than a show, I like to think of Haikyuu as an experience. I think it captures just what it means to grow and becoming your own person. A moment of life I’ll remember forever.

Liv

Kageyama is classic gifted kid 😂☠️ he’s so focused on perfection and doesn’t understand how to communicate through feelings well but not out of maliciousness, just purely he is no thoughts just volleyball 🏐

Liv

Opening still slaps after all these years!!!

You’ll find a bunch of people who got into K-pop around 2014-2016 were also fans of haikyuu!! (You had to be there lollll)That was the case for me, there’s a lot of crossover in capturing that essence of PASSION and the performance being something so emotional for the people involved + not being afraid to be 100% EARNEST ABOUT TRYING YOUR BEST—tapping into that training aspect and being able to see that GROWTH +rooting for their development ANDDDD the found family aspect of forming a group/team (especially with dad daichi and mom Suga+problem children) & the bonds from that THERES A LOT OF CROSSOVER 😂

Shira-Ou

that's honestly one of the best thing about haikyuu. the story builds around every character you meet in this anime, it's not a one man show and that's honestly how they make every character lovable in this anime even if they have a small part. They also give good backstories for each character motivation behind why they are here now as you go on in the anime so they all just feel legit and not as some placeholder character to fill a team =w=

Shira-Ou

and yesss cant wait till yall get to actual matches episodes cuz the adrenaline will feel like yall playing in it as well haha

Winter Rian ~

I love seeing so many people here enjoying haikyuu as much as I do :') Going to be one of my highlights every week. I have so many emotions attached to that anime

Haruka

Daichi's vision is something :D

Harley

I think Haikyuu and a lot sports anime in general have interesting story telling compared to like battle shounen because they have to introduce the sport first and then try to ease you into liking the sport. And then once they have your interest peak a little then they can go in and explain the sport to you but in a way that isn’t going to bore you. But they have to do it while also introducing the characters. One thing I usually say about sports anime and Haikyuu specifically is “you came for the idea of watching an anime about sports but you stayed because of the characters” and like someone said earlier you get emotionally invested really easily in these kind of anime.

As a fun fact: In the first drafts of the manga, the story was told from Kageyama (black hair setter) 's perspective. The actual manga and anime are told from Hinata's perspective

to this day... my favorite anime of all time and I'm not saying this lightly

Pooge
