I, too, stared slack-jawed at the screen for most of the time when I first watched this. And, with repeated listens? I think this might just barely top Voltage for me. Can't wait to see your thoughts on the full album that just dropped! It's got 4 new songs plus several more translated Korean tracks and I think also their previous Japanese tracks including b-sides.

PD, if you have time, please also check out Sugar-holic, its another song from the Ringo album! It's soooooooo good too !!! Heres the MV: https://youtu.be/5S1nsJs2O6s?si=a5CA3QFWNqNzfrok Its has a complete different vibe, you will definitely love it!

Theia

But why is JYP giving them mid at best title tracks for the last few Korean comebacks but all the Japanese title tracks slay?

Anonymous

My same thoughts on I wish they would let ITZY bring the same energy to their Korean tracks.

Why can't we get this stuff as a korean comeback man. Both the MV and the song. I don't want no sneakers no cake gimme ringo ringo

ian

Thank you PD!! When you have time I would love to see you check out the MV for Sugar-holic which is also on the album. The song has such calming and soothing vibes but the MV is SO beautifully shot https://youtu.be/5S1nsJs2O6s?si=OcbXy8eXxGwWl-Uc They also released a live performance of Ringo, which was basically a performance video with live vocals!! https://youtu.be/9OG-Mqygf-0?si=YTcSpG49ucCyMOKw

Iris

this was honestly my fav itzy song ever in terms of title tracks idc. ITS TOO GOOD

Did you react to Voltage? Can't find the video

Liv

I replayed the intro a thousand times THE TRANSITION INTO THE FRAM FROM THEM AND THAT RYUJIN START—LITERALLY EMERGING FROM THE SHADOWS IT WAS ELECTRIC!!!!

Liv

Ringo has quickly become one of my favorite Itzy title tracks and favorite MVs + the lyrics!! ALSO IT HELPS THEY CAN ACTUALLY FLESH OUT THE SONG BC ITS NOT UNDER 3 MINUTES ☠️ like yeah maybe the song progresses better, is more dynamic, and the members have more lines that the song is better 🤔🤔 2:50 is too short for a title track im putting my foot down about it

Liv

The trend from voltage, blah blah blah, to ringo WOW the A&R for their team is strong and this is their best jpop mv yet UGH

ian

Yes it was during a livestream. Here’s a link with time stamps to the previous streams PD used to do, and Voltage was on April 17 2022(funny enough Ryujin’s birthday) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DT9rhREP1RoHEqOcxL_t1Y6NLA3YCgWOLBJl_8AvPSc/edit

I totally know what you mean about this being a more realized, FULLER version of what they were trying with LOCO, it feels like a case where they try stuff in their Korean releases, learn, and then perfect it in Japanese releases which is a shame bc it also feels like their team has just been focused on playing it safe lately rather letting them be GREAT idk

Liv

LOCO ISNT BAD BY ANY MEANS but yeah I tried my hardest to LOVE it but for me personally it’s more of LIKE, it just didn’t work overtime and I think it has a lot to do with the chorus not working, i think it wasn’t cohesive or full/dynamic enough and the whole song felt rushed I couldn’t feel the ups and downs like I can with ringo and it felt like the same momentum the whole time LIKE THE END OF RINGO FEELS LIKE A GRAND FINALE and the members actually get to challenge their voices

Liv

This Japanese album released some BANGERS, but fair warning it is only 3 new songs and the rest are old Japanese releases BUT THOSE 3 SONGS ARE SO GOOD AND STYLE IS STRAIGHT UP A GOT7 SONG I WAS PUMPED

I think we all know the deal with JYP and their Japanese Group releases compared to Korean, it's just so much better it's unfair

Speaking of Japanese reactions... XG has a new video called Puppet Show. I think you will enjoy the production of the video once again.

I love rapper Yuna 😭 Ryujin delivered as always as well

The bit you said about they're not afraid to hide Yeji's features. I feel the same about their Japanese music in general. They're not afraid to turn Itzy's image darker. Bsides like Cant' Tie Me Down and Style really highlight this. Itzy's Japanese image isn't afraid to be fiercely confident rather than just empowering-ly confident like thier Korean image.

Itzys japanese songs are always on point!!
