MV reaction not up

Hrathen

Something about the songs on this EP that sends a full body shiver from toes to nose and I get that weird feeling of either wanting to tear up or sneeze lol

Bad Reputation also has a performance video that came out a couple days before the C'mon MV

Is it just me or Bad Reputation has a Roar by Katy Perry sample on it?

For me this EP it’s amazing. I didn’t follow Jinni at all, but When I first heard this EP, I was shocked. All the songs areee sooooo amazing, that OMG. I also think the same, her music is like a mix of Jennie of Blackpink, dua lipa and also for me Ariana Grande, I’m a big fan of Ariana and the song here we go again reminds me sooo much to Positions by Ariana. What it’s amazing is that Jinni voice doesn’t sound like any of these other singers, it’s just like the overall vibe of the songs. I really hope she gets bigger.

wow😭 your reaction not only summed up my feelings towards jini’s music and image! i’ve been following jini’s journey (and nmixx) for 2 years now so i was worried about how it would go despite my faith in her skills, so this also gave me so much hope for her career as a soloist and gave some really interesting insight as a producer

I really loved CMON, the first thing that popped into my head was being in the crowd at a festival during sunset. Like Head In The Clouds or something idk why, but whenever that day comes, I'll be there

Jini was actually asked about her departure from the group in an interview the other day. Obviously she didn’t respond to it. Like she gave the “general/not specific answer”, but I mean… what did the interviewer expect her to answer? In any case it could cause a bad name for her or JYP/NMixx themselves and I believe she is on a good term with the members. In my opinion JYP realized the whole “Mixx-Pop concept” is not really working the way as æspa does it and also it wasn’t really in a style of JYP in general (I will eleborate on this statement of “JYP style” lower in this comment). And so J.Y. Park decided to go another way round with this group and rather than having the “4th generation-like girl group” he changed it into the “4.5th generation-like girl group (closer to the style of NewJeans for example) and in this scenario Jini didn’t really fit into the vision for NMixx anymore. I don’t want to say she would overshadow the rest of the group, but there is something really “dominating” about her (I don’t mean powerfulness of her performance, in that case KyuJin would not fit as well… I don’t know how to describe the thing about Jini…), basically I feel like she gives me HyunA vibes. Like I can totally imagine her redebuting with another girl group, where people would KNOW her from her previous group, although she was able only to be there for a very short time. And actually although she is not in a group after all (there were speculations about her joining The Black Label, where she could re-debut in their upcoming girl group), I do think she could be successful with her solo to the level as HyunA is known for her solo. Regarding the “JYP style”: I mean, I don’t think there is a rule they should be in the way of previous JYP Ent.’s acts, but you need to have a group like Stray Kids to take care of themselves well. Basically I am saying NMixx could have been “the female Stray Kids”, but they needed to produce their music or have their own dedicared producing team rather than combining everything from many teams. (To be fair I would love them to have a song like Thunderous or anything 3racha would produce for them).

I see your point with Jini being like BoA. I mean, sonically without any doubt. But career-wise, I am not sure whether it is possible to happen in Kpop again (I mean for a soloist). That’s why I compare her to HyunA. With her “all-rounderness”, her presence and potential to be able to stand on her own, I think we will hear about her in the future a lot! (The same way HyunA’s solo blew up, although she re-debuted with another group before that, but the way 4Minute was formed, was really based on HyunA’s name and future potential

WiseSmellyLegs

🤔🤔 I am thinking again about your statement at the end: “If you take our generation’s BoA, but put her on the global scale”… I guess the A&R team of hers may see it as well in this way and that’s why rather than making “English version” to the title track they made it full English without any “version” mentioned in the name and then in the album they included the Korean version. Like… if you are aiming for the US market, you should keep one version of the song. In the US they are not used to see “language version” in the title and although they included the Korean version after all, they present the “English version” as “the one version”. I don’t know with the comparison to BoA. Like I get you… but at the same time it is like if you said to someone’s debut: “They are the new BTS/BIGBANG” I mean… even with BTS debut, nobody thought: “Yeah, this is going to take over the world” 😅😅
