I don't know if I'm supposed to be seeing this post, I'm a Spring tier patron...

Juliana Ferrari

I might just become a summer tier because I miss drama club and 25 21 is one of my favs 😅

have summer gotten access to 1-3 yet or was this a mistake? 👀

to me this is my favorite studio dragon show because of the journey it take me on. there definitely are a lot of characters, but throughout the whole show you get to experience and explore the developments of various relationships. it might not be as individually gripping each episode, but as a whole, no show has made me feel more emotions (personally). that’s why i’m soo excited to see you go through the journey! can’t wait for the next episode :)

They are definitely building a romance between the main two lol. At first I was a little apprehensive about it but the writers never made it weird, also she's 18 but I know in South Korea they go to school until age 20 right? The age difference is a thing in this show (hence the title) but I never felt uneasy about them being alone together. They're like besties who have secret crushes on each other. This episode when they talked about turning tragedies into comedies was so relatable. That tears of a clown quote is so real. Her resilience is amazing. It is very slice of life and normal people going about their day to day but the relationships in this show are my favorite. It may not be your cup of tea though and that's totally fine. Hopefully you guys will enjoy the next episode a little more ❤️

Wrong tier! :)

I think what you didnt consider, Yurim and Heedo arent just class- or teammates, they are rivals, at least in Yurim's mind. And I dont mean rivals as in life but in sports. This doesnt excuse Yurim's behaviour but it explains a lot bc it's quite common in sports. You heard her say to her dad, how her fear is to not be on top anymore. She is a competitor and she sees fencing as a way to provide for her family, but in order to do that she needs to stay at the very top for a really long time. She's scared Heedo might take this from her. And even if not, a lot of athletes try to stay distant to their rivals and dont form relationships with them cause that can make it harder for them to beat a friend in a competition. They wanna stay as distant as possible to their rivals and in Yurim's case she sees Heedo only as a danger to her career so she treats her as such since that's the easiest way to deal with it for her as an athlete. Again I don't agree with how she treats Heedo but from an athletes perspective it's not very uncommon for stuff like this to happen.

Ngl, I think knowing this is a Studio Dragon show is starting to be possibly detrimental to your enjoyment of it because of preexisting expectations of how you think/want it to go. I don't think you can really compare a show like Vincenzo to Twenty Five Twenty One, lol. It's essentially a slice-of-life character drama, with the backdrop of fencing. And it also may just be, our collective tastes and your tastes in shows have diverged over time (which might make it problematic to recommend shows in the future 😅)

Sascha

how did you guys go from absolutely loving and praising the drama throughout the first 3 episodes to being so mindblown by how it's a lot of people's favourite studio dragon show? it just seems like a very sudden change of perspective bc nothing indicated you felt that way during the first 3 reactions or even during this one? I mean I like that you're being honest about it, but it just never felt like you think that during any point of your videos except for this review

Rohsyeons

i think as the show developed studio dragon actually did manage to make me care about each character, especially towards the latter half of the season

Noem

I honestly only watched about 6 episodes of this drama before I stopped, and watching all of it with you is gonna be interesting because I'm also not convinced that 2521 is that great but ready to be proven wrong.. hopefully 🙃

Blair I love your haiiir <3

this kdrama is one of my all time favourites, kim taeri is an exceptional actress. i personally don't find the romance weird at all as they start as being very much platonic best friends who rooted for each other. the way they developed and grow into a romantic interest for me is very beautiful and makes me root for them even more.

Tesa

i felt the same way! it made me root for them even more!

haha yup, is baek yijin the baby daddy was the main question we were all obsessing over as the show aired! the future scenes added confusion at times and sometimes they weren't needed imo. but maybe i also felt that way because i (and many others) am not a fan of the way the actress played adult hee do. she seems like a completely different person so that always threw me off in the 'future' scenes. i'm surprised you say there are a lot of characters! it's really just about the group of 5 (4 highschoolers and yijin) that you need to care about and are the main focus of the drama. heedo and yijin being #1 ofc. CLOY and Vincenzo had way more characters than 25 21..

Connor (Cyndr)

I definitely think this show's structure, especially with the future time framing, is the show's main drawback. I don't like how it foreshadows things, and it does so in the way that mystery thrillers do where it can lead people to weird incorrect assumptions (depending on your perspective and how you view plot ideas of course). They do these in the past too, but it's weirder with the future scenes. PD has a pretty solid analysis on Yurim's character (from my perspective), she's definitely projecting her fears and pressures onto Heedo and that is boiling up in the form of hate. I think that Heedo also represents everything Yurim regrests about herself and she hates that someone else can be on the same path and strive for this awful platform without the same fears and worries Yurim has. There's also the layer of Yurim's family worries and how she feels she needs to support her parents (a noble cause that is ironically corrupting her, and again it's heavy responsibilities that she's not ready for and definitely shouldn't be shouldering). I'm very interested to see if Yurim redeems herself for you guys cause there's pretty mixed perspectives on her (which is definitely the point and you guys discussed perspective in this too). Ultimately it comes down to how much an individual can forgive and move on and what values are important to you.

you should check out ALCHEMY OF SOULS pd. I think you’ve never checked out a full historial-esque drama here on patreon either. ALCHEMY OF SOULS would be a great addition to drama club. It is INDEED produced by STUDIO DRAGON. You will see so many familiar faces in ALCHEMY OF SOULS, like Shin Seung-ho himeself- Hwang Min-hyun from NU’EST- Arin from OH MY GIRL- Go Yoon jung from SWEET HOME- Yoo In soo from ALL OF US ARE DEAD (the villain) - Oh Nara from SKY CASTLE - Im Chul-soo from VINCENSO - JUNG SO MIN and many more | I'm telling you its really good and RIGHT UP YOUR ALLY.

Honestly the age gap bothered me on the first episode. Mostly because Kim Taeri looked so young. She doesn’t look 18 she looks closer to 15. It bothered me so much I had to look up her real age. Idk why but felt better knowing In real life she’s older that Joohyuk. She is 32 and he is 29. Anyway as the show progressed and the way they handled it made me feel better. It’s very pure and really good show. I have my feelings I’ll save for later but damn PD… all I can say is I can’t wait for you to see more.
