I can recognize Danielle, but i still struggle to recognize Minji and Hanni, i'm confused and mix them. But i can recognize Hyein, she looks older than her age! Everyone except Minji and Hyein likely entered HYBE via the 2019 Plus Global Auditions (Minji was the model and face for this, later on she debuts with them, kinda fascinating). Hyein likely replaced the heavily rumored member who left due to health reasons, which makes sense given the time she left PocketdolTV (Only last year) and it maybe why debut was postponed for a year. The A&R person who scouted Minji posted later on that they indeed scouted her when she was 14 so she trained for four years, 1 under Source Music and ~3 under BigHit given the logistics after the Plus Global Audition. They later moved to ADOR which was established for them but ever since then, I believe the trainees from the Plus Global group have always trained separately from other female trainees which makes sense why they are the ones who made a cameo in PTD MV with BigHit trainees. For those who want to see Minji in 2019 Plus Global Audition Campaigns you can search that and THE_GIRL 1 & 2 on HYBE LABELS channel. Hanni had a little K-pop Cover group in Australia but I believe it wasn’t like TEMPEST Hanbin’s case where he really had sooo many public performances. All of them pretty much trained for 2.5 - 4 years (Hyein joined HYBE last but she had a company before) which reflects a lot on the performances!

they have this practiced casualness to their moves, like it doesn't feel forced and you can tell they must have practiced a lot but it's to the point where the swag and casualness feels natural. I think their dance feels very gender neutral, they're not trying to look super feminine or masculine, their dances have a improv feeling to it, look forward to dancer reactions! edit: newjeans actually dropped out of nowhere, so no one had any idea hybe/ador was debuting a new girl group then (there were rumors but no concrete dates or names)

One thing that definitely grabbed my attention about NewJeans is that their dancing and overall stage presence is very confident. Like, if I didn't know, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell this is their debut! Very, very excited to see what they do in the future. 👀

NewJeans' dance is really entertaining to watch, I think, is likely due to how it's choreographed. Most of their dance uses a lot of bopping and large movements, and these movements don't stop, like ever. Every single beat of the song has a corresponding movement, and even parts that have no beats have movement, which holds tension and continues the rhythm in the viewer's head. The brain likes things that matches, so to have moves that really look like what the song sounds like probably fires off lots of little shots to dopamine as you watch it. Plus these days most kpop dances are about intricacies and isolation, so groovy dances are even more satisfying to watch.
