Why is this video unavailable 😭

I'm hoping this upload is a good sign that en oclock is on its way. I've been obsessively refreshing patreon all day lol

Judy Lan

Thank you PD! Been waiting for you to listen to this album! I loved this album so much!!!

Judy Lan

Cya's name is read (key)ya

Tesa

In their behind the scenes of how the album was created and how each song was recorded the members also gave an interview and Cya said this about the underscore: "All of our songs have many fiction or fantasy elements. We thought it'd be nice for the public and WEVE to interpret our songs based on their own stories. That's why the English titles have an underscore." I guess it's a way of connecting their song and our experience?

From_ is such a beatiful song to me because it feels like a lullaby, like being sung to sleep, just so calming and warm

Hoping to come back and leave a further comment later if I remember (it’s 3am here right now) but I wanted to make sure to point out that this is the first Onewe album where all members have self produced songs, with Harin’s masterpiece in Envision_ and Dongmyeong’s Trigger_, which is actually interpreted by weves as a song about discrimination and stereotypes and how Dongmyeong (as someone who often challenges gender norms) wants to “change standards”. The other members did amazing with their songs as always and you can really feel each of their personalities and talents in this album.

I like to think that the underscores are trying to convey the same thing that 너의 우주는 does in Korean; it's the start of a sentence and the end is meant to be filled in with the song. On another note, I think this album from Onewe has to be one of my top albums of all time. Even as just a casual listener, every song on this album has high replay value.

Shauni Dee

Also, From_ was originally named Gift and was a song Onewe performed back in 2016 when they were known as MAS 0094 - it sounded a little different back then but they officially performed the song as it is here back in 2019, so weves have been waiting for a long time for a full recorded version!

long comment ahead!! also some more insights from members with the music/lyrics/inspirations - each of the b-sides was actually written, composed and arranged by each individual member!! i feel like this really just made this album so much more personal and intimate than any other album they've released; especially with the title track only having credits for Yonghoon in lyrics, composing and arranging except for the PD that onewe work close with, Jeon Dawoon, who is credited second in composing and arranging. here's each of the member's songs and more info on them: Envision_ - Harin (his lyric writing style seems to be influenced by his love for poetry!! this is the first harin song we've ever gotten so i'm really curious about some of his other songs) Montage_ - CyA (also the creator of Trauma (Aquarium), i've also heard from many people that CyA's lyrics can be really hard to translate into english and that his writing style is really distinct in that sense) Trigger_ - Dongmyeong (Dongmyeong actually wrote this song with the message that even though their impact might not be big now, onewe as a group want to be able to slowly overtime help things like descrimination of minority groups; lgbtq+ people, ethnic groups, etc. i think this song almost outlines that people in the "normal" society almost villianise these different groups of people for being who they are, and at the chorus it's like a chant to say "we are going to be the people who change this world") Orbit_ - Kanghyun (definitely highly influenced by his absolute love and adorement for literature and poetry, or just reading in general, he reads everything from textbooks, to literature to poetry. his lyrics are always so beatiful in so many ways and i've heard from various people that the words he uses are just so beatiful) From_ - Yonghoon (though all of onewe are credited in arranging of From_, yonghoon wrote this song with his mom in mind back while onewe were still under the name MAS0094 - it's a real tear jerker at concerts, they had their first one for nearly a year that was in person and online and then they performed From_ everybody including the members were basically in tears especially as their parents were also at the concert)

personally i really resonate with trigger_ a whole lot as someone in a largely discriminated group of people, i feel like the darker vibes and feelings that are heard in the song really really portray how dongmyeong himself feels so strongly on this matter which is really cool - as for it's fitting on the album, it is vastly different from basically every other onewe song released so far, and i remember dongmyeong feeling a bit insecure almost as to how different it is from their other songs, but i also think that it seems to fit a bit more when you know that each song is written by each member. i also don't know about anyone else but i actually find the transition from Trigger_ to Orbit_ really satisfying, and almost seems to slip right in - except the topics are very very different to e/o

I could never type all this so thanks for sharing....I enjoyed the listening party.. after hearing the Onewe members speak about their inspirations for the songs it was interesting to hear how PD interpreted it esp as a Korean speaker themself. This is one of those albums that have to be listened to in it's entirety in that order.

jksdhfgks of course!! i also really thought it was interesting hearing PD explain his own interpretations of the lyrics - especially for Envision_, i felt like more than just reading the translation, with the explanations here i felt like i got a more in depth look at just how poetic harin's lyrics really were which was really cool!

oh no, it looks like I didn't save my comment last time! I'll try again. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about this album! I really enjoyed all of the songs on it as well. Here are my thoughts about each song (keeping in mind that I don't know Korean, so although I've read the lyrics in translation, the lyrics don't affect my feelings toward each song as much): Universe_ Such a gorgeous gorgeous song. It feels so sweet, but slightly sad and nostalgic. I think even without the MV, it conveys those emotions clearly, but I agree that the MV really drives that point home even deeper. The moment at the beginning of the first chorus where it's just Yonghoon and the piano flourishes, and then the last part of the song with the bridge and the guitar solo never fail to tug at my heartstrings. Envision_ I also felt that this song told a very strong and visual story. Musically, it's not one of my favorites (though I still definitely enjoyed it), yet it inspired me the most artistically—I actually ended up drawing art based on the song, because I couldn't get the imagery (in translation, and helped by the English refrain of "Oh, Star") out of my head. Montage_ One of my favorite songs on this album. It has such a strong and dynamic beat, but also some beautiful melodies. And that guitar solo is just wild! The very first time I listened to it, I also immediately thought of it being suitable for an anime opening. Trigger_ Probably one of my favorite songs on the album, though I have to be in the right mood for it! Dongmyeong (keyboardist/vocalist, who composed this song) has said that it's about wanting to change standards and fight against discrimination/hatred, so I love that message. But I agree that I found the lyrics (at least in translation) a bit confusing, since the lyrics don't seem to be that straightforward? What makes it one of my favorite songs is the almost sultry and suspenseful feeling the vocals and the beat give it, contrasted with the heavier rap parts. Orbit_ At first, I wasn't sure what to think of this song, since it seemed less...melodic? musical? than most Onewe songs. But once I read the lyrics, I understood. The music fits the storytelling vibe perfectly; I've seen others online mention that it feels kind of like a bard telling a tale, which I definitely see. And the lyrics are so incredibly beautiful. The concept (destined soulmates) seems like it could be cheesy, but because of how the emotion is expressed in the lyrics, it never ends up feeling that way. And I love how it ends on an unfinished sentence and on a note that feels unresolved; it makes you think of how an orbit has no endpoint. From_ This is such a lovely song, it definitely does feel like a gift. As other commenters have mentioned, I think Yonghoon originally wrote it for his mother. I'm so impressed by the depth of emotion and the warmth that the song conveys, despite having so few words. But the arrangement of the instrumentals as well as the beautiful vocal harmonies really build a soft yet expansive atmosphere in this song. It feels like the perfect song to end on. Ha, this is a long comment and I'm not sure how many people would be interested to read the thoughts of a random person online! But you asked what others thought of each song, and it seems like I had a lot I wanted to share. Thank you again for this listening party, I had a lot of fun seeing you enjoy Onewe's music!

I loved hearing your interpretations of the songs! You saying how vague their lyrics can be, really falls in line with their intention for listeners to connect their own experiences to the music. Although your understanding of Trigger is not what the song is about, I do have to say that based on the lyrics your interpretation makes more sense lol I think the sultry tone of the song also suits your explanation. Although it's not a favourite of mine, I do very much love how Dongmyeong sang so aggressively. It's a very different vibe for him! My favourites on the album are Montage_ and From_ (the vocals are heavenly)! They both sound so epic and Montage kind of made me ascend at the end in a similar way Aurora did, although nothing can beat Aurora tbh Just in general, their singing, the instrumentals, toplines, technique when playing their instruments, and lyricism on this album shows how freakin' talented they all are and how special their music is! It's an amazing album and this was such a fun listening party! Thank you! Oh, and I also love your idea for the Envision MV! And now, I too want Onewe to do the score for an anime movie haha

Stefan

I absolutely love this album, it will be one of my top albums of the year, even though it came out right at the start of it 😅 Trigger_ is actually by far my favourite song on this album, I was blown away when I first heard it, and I was even more blown away when I read that Dongmyeong wrote it! I just love it's sound, I had "La di la di la la la~" stuck in my head for weeks (I don't take lyrics in consideration when deciding if I like a song or not, so your critique points wouldn't be a factor for me, though I get how it might be confusing)

Serena

i love this album so much TT

Thank you for this listening party 🥰 I LOVE this album, it’s amazing and my favorite one from ONEWE 🥺 My favorite song is Envision_ ♥️

Thank you for the listening party! This album is really something special. I loved hearing your interpretations to the songs. I've only relied on English translations of the songs, but hearing what the Korean lyrics meant to say just made the songs even more special. My favorites have to be Montage_ (for the instruments) and Orbit_ (for the lyrics). Trigger_ would also rank last on my list only because it took a while for me to really appreciate it. Not sure if anyone's mentioned this before, but ONEWE said that the RBW team tried creating songs for them, but it just didn't fit ONEWE's aesthetic/vibe. What makes this album special is that all the songs were produced by the members themselves.

Alison Renaud

I loved how you described Orbit like it didnt have an ending like how objects in orbit are continuous and never ending. The song really feels like it could go on forever and I would listen to it forever and ever! I always love hearing how people feel about Onewe. Also its so beautiful how Onewe can make people really truely FEEL their music on multiple levels. Its insane how talented they all are. They are my favorite group and this album just proves they are true artists in every sense of the word!!

Alison Renaud

I absolutely love this album. There aren't enough words to describe how much. I watched this Sunday night when usually I wait till I'm at work but I wanted to give this my full attention. I'm in awe with how talented Onewe all are. Its crazy how one group can make you FEEL their music on multiple levels. Every song written by them perfectly fits each member flawlessly. If you know Onewe members outside of title tracks and off stage you will understand each song on another level and know how personal they are to each of them. Universe by Younghoon: This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. From Younghoons vocals and lyrics to the emotion they each put into their parts. I love just listening to the song even with out the mv. While the mv is beautiful I want to take in and feel the music itself with out any distractions. Universe and Aurora are my favorite Onewe songs and nothing can beat Aurora but Universe is a close second. Envision by Harin: Harin is so quiet I feel like we dont know much about him. For him to write a song as epic as this is just mind blowing. I watched their concert and he took of shirt for the encore!!! I was so shocked! He has so many different sides to him I dont even know yet. I love seeing different colors and tones of him shine through with this song. Its truely a work of art and hes a writer not just a drummer. Montage by Cya: Can we just talk about how incredibly talented Cya is?!? He wrote and composed this song! I dont even want to try and explain how I feel about this song cause I wont do it justice. This is my favorite on the album by far. Its so fun to listen to! Trigger by Dongmyeong: Im so freaking proud of Dongmyeong!!! Hes one of my biases for a reason. This song is so unique just like him. Hes so humble and down to earth yet bubbly and full if energy. This song has heartfelt meaning behind it and is perfect for Dongmyeong. Orbit by Kanghyun: Kanghyun is my ult bias and one of my favorite musicians and writers and artists and this song is all the reasons why. Its fun, has lots of guitar which I love and hes a freaking guitar god. I love how much guitar is in this whole album but this song alone is ALL guitar and I love it! I loved the explanation from someone in the comments T who said its like an orbit and never wants to end. From by Younghoon: This song is just epic, beautiful, stunning, and so many other descriptive words I cant think of. This is why I LOVE ballads the most of any type of song. I love power ballads. Power ballads are the best way to showcase your voice and control and range and Younghoons range and control are insane. Dongmyeong really has a powerful voice too and he gets to shine in this song as well. I love both of their voices. While they sound completely different and not like they should fit or harmonize well together, but they fucking do and on an otherworldly level! Anyways this was a stunning album and just pure art and talent. Onewe are beautiful and such a healing group for me. Thank you for a wonderful listening party and your interpretations and translations! Its one of the reasons I love your videos.

Alison Renaud

Also I highly recommend a few videos to watch: Aurora mv, Orbit Acoustic version, and Star. They have also done multiple "band cover" songs and videos which are all amazing and show different sides of their voices and playing. All are beautiful especially Aurora and Star. Star should have been in this album it has a very similar feel to the rest of the songs also it could totally be an anime opening or ending!!

ExoChen B

Onewe will forever blow me away. Their music is phenomenal. The feeling and emotion behind everything they do is just admirable. Yonghoon's voice, however, is the cherry on top... My god... His live vocals are even better, as well

tangerinejess

not gonna lie I joined Patreon to see his reaction to this album!! I love montage so much. the reason for the underscore is because it symbolises the opposite to a full stop. its not just universe but universe and a little something more :)
