It's here!!! This isn't an early access but I'm posting this here on Patreon as well because I specifically wanted to see comments and thoughts from our Patrons who have been following the GP999 journey here on Patreon.

Just as a heads up, I know the schedule isn't out yet (I'm still sick and barely pulled myself together for this video) but the rest of GP999 will all be out this month!

I also wanted to reserve the Kulture Study video where I can remain objective and make critique but Patreon is where my fandom thrives and HOLY MOLYYYYYYYYYY. EVERYONE LOOKS AND SOUNDS SO GOOOOOD. I didn't mention her much in my video because the only things I had to say about my #1 gal Shen Xiaoting is HOW AMAZING SHE LOOKS. Like Shen Xiaoting just created a whole new group position called Server cus all she did was SERVEEEEEE in this video. Also holy moly Yeseo killed this entire video.

Also more Chae Hyun, Bahiyyih, and Yong Eun in the next comeback please.

Alright so, what did YOU all think?

I sadly have to say that I'm really disappointed with this debut. As a comeback song it would have been good (expect the chorus, the second part of it doesn't make any sense), but for a debut if you want to be successful you have to make an impact and define yourself from other groups. And until now groups from MNet survival shows did that quiet well. IOI, Wanna One, IZ*ONE and X1 defined their identity with their debuts. They showed what sound and concept stands for them. But Wa Da Da just sounds like multiple fourth gen girl group songs thrown together without any identity. I mean even in the chorus they can't decide if they want to do girl crush or cute. The second the Ooh part in the chorus starts the song was ruined for me. And the MV doesn't bring anything new to the table. Yes, the editing is well done but it doesn't make me feel anything. That could literally have been any girl group in that mv, there was no personality whatsoever. I really think the producers did the girls dirty here.

ilhem

I really recommend you to react to their live stage on M2 channel of Wa Da Da which really show every parts, and also the MVSK one, Youngeun really shines in this song !

Annika

You need to check out their mvsk performance from their comeback show please its so so so good, its in 4k and it shows their versatility so well. Youngeun really got to shine there and also bahiyyih at least got a bit more lines

ice4fresh

I liked it but wasn't blown away tbh. I didn't really vibe with the whole 'WA DA DA' in the chorus but apart from that it was solid. I just kinda feel it lacked impact? I think the song didn't really do their skills justice if that makes sense. They could have gone for something stronger, more intense in my opinion. Still liked it tho 8/10 Tbh I liked all of the end mission songs more than this🤣 Also I will now spread Xiaoting as server on reddit. The position will be coined by her.

valeria castillo

I like it, but there’s something missing for me. I don’t know exactly what it is, but there’s something with this song debut. Overall the girls look amazing Yeseo and Xiaoting kill it for me

BaoziBang

The Title Track & Concept reminded of Weki Meki - but like a SM Version.

Rakurai

Honestly I like the song but the MV seems a bit wierd to me? I LOVE the two new songs on the mini album too - Really excited to see where they go from here!!

B

I was honestly really worried that you wouldn't like it because the song is trying to do quite a lot. Personally, I thought the debut wasn't great because it didn't fully showcase what the members are truly capable of. The song feels so disjointed which increasingly makes it feel like the line distribution is not good. My favorite part definitely has to go to the prechorus because that is basically the only part where Chaehyun and Youngeun showed off their vocals. I wanted a more vocal heavy song from them; everyone can sing well (even the rappers). I will still be stanning these girls because, although I didn't like the debut, the members are just too great.

Isabella N.

as a debut, i felt it a bit lacking? other ppl have pointed out that it didn’t seem to rlly showcase THEM and felt more like any other 4th gen gg comeback. maybe that’s why it seems to be missing smt for me? and it was kinda all over the place in multiple parts (mostly the chorus). however, i personally like it ! they’re rookies so it’s expected that they’re far from perfect. also, xiaoting looked and sounded amazing. i’m proud of all of them, though i also hope to see more of some of them in future title tracks

BaoziBang

The Problem is, between all the Stuff about GP999 and this Song and concept just... Not carving out an identity for them I just... Won't follow them closely. Nothing got to me. Which is sad because I know how talented they are. I will probably listen to their Album but the probability that one of the bsides is strong enough to get me to STAN is slim.

Claire B

Honestly im a bit disappointed like all the parts are good but not together, i really like the versesbut not with this drop (not a big fan of the chorus but thats my tastes) + the concept is a bit messy like we dont really know what is going on... and of course the line/screen distribution is not even but i hope they did it because of the girls personnal abilities. I dont really like the choreo too Iz*one début was more balanced i hope the next come-back will be better BUT im still so happy for the girls for their début !

Anonymous

Eh, the debut is fine. Could’ve been worse, honestly. It’s still a bop. It’s not like I have some delicate tastes, but a lot of songs nowadays just give me a huge headache. This one doesn’t, which means it’s fine, and I’ll take fine. Mvsk, though, is awesome — song, performance, everything. Please react to it, it really shows all the girls properly in my opinion.

Steven Nguyen

Love this. Please check out their debut show performances when you feel better. You will love MVSK and YoungEun vocally shines so much in that song.

Bina

MVSK was much better and should have been the title track, it has more flavour and shows off the charms of the girls a bit better. Wa da da, i feel feels like it has no actual personality and is just put in as the title track to push through and be catchy enough to get people intrested in the group, ngl it sounds like a creation mission song... none the less I am happy for all the Kep1er girls for their debut and they all did really well (although i wish Bahiyyih had more than just one short line in the song).

Gustavo Ramos

You should check out their debut show. You get to see their ot9 shine performance. MVSK performance and obvi Wa da Da performance. As well as see the members interact and talk. https://youtu.be/mZhFt5jlNKU

Theia

I have the same problem. The WA DA DA sounds like baby talk to me and from this point I just couldn't take the song serious.

Anonymous

At first I thought the mv was the dance performance.. in general it seems They had a short amount of time for the whole debut My personal opinion the bside “MVSK” is waaaay better

Maf

Imagine me, being a Bahiyyih stan the whole show. Voting for her nonstop and she literally got 1 line and 2 center moments that were like 5 sec in total… in mvsk she had more but that wasn’t a lot either. Really the whole album is kind of a disappointment in terms of line distribution. The members that got the most lines in ALL song are always the same: chaehyun, xiaoting, dayeon, yeseo and yujin…

dylan

I really like the song but as other people have said, I definitely prefer Mvsk and feel like it could've been an amazing title track that shows a unique side from the girls and as we can see in the live performance at their debut showcase, they all pull off the concept super well so it feels like a missed opportunity in a way. Nonetheless I am in love with their debut and they've quickly grown to be my ult, mostly cause of the girls themselves! They are all just super amazing and loveable and I am nothing short of excited to follow them on their journey. They're the first group I bought a set of signed albums for for a reason ;) Glad to see you enjoyed it though, excited for the last few GP999 reactions!

Amanda Bernström

I was SO dissapointed with this debut when it comes to Bahiyyih. She got 1 line and 1 center moment in this song and mv (just 7 seconds of a 3 min song). 30 seconds in total for the whole album. She got mistreated in gp999 (literally no screentime) and is still being mistreated. At least they could have given her some screentime in the mv if they dont want her to sing. They treated her like a freaking ghost. Its just so disappointing.

Emma Davies Lopez

I LOVE IT! in the past few hours its grown on me loads and i’ve even learned the chorus choreo already in all my excitement! hahaha yeah Xiaoting served, i really want her to get a center or gotg position so she’ll be well utilised. and our girl Youngeun did so well in the few lines she got. they all looked so pretty and did great for such a quick debut. i can’t wait to see where they go from here!! 8.5/10 debut🤗 hopefully you can also check out their debut showcase performances after the album listening party :)

Sarahvtae

Personally, i was really disappointed in this debut. The song is mediocre and sounds like 70% of the 2021 debuts to me. The choreo is bad and doesn't highlight their skills at all. The mv was messy. I'm not even gonna talk about the line-distribution, cause that sh*t is simply ridiculous. I watched the live stage and it wasn't better at all. They're far from being synchronized and i KNOW they can do better than this, cause they're really talented. They should've really made "MVSK" the title track. The song is great. The choreo is fantastic. The line-distribution is WAY better. And in my opinion...it fits them better. Normally "experimental" debuts like this are better, cause they make you stand out more, BUT everyone lately does it. It's nothing new. It's nothing fresh. "MVSK" as the title track would've made a bigger impact, since it's different from what majority of the industry releases lately. And don't get me wrong...i love these concepts. These hard-hitting songs. But for a debut?...From a group, that debuted through a Mnet survival show? I expected more tbh. Anyways...they worked hard. I'm glad they finally debuted. I just hope, their first comeback will be better😌

Jeanett Sæther

Totally agree with you.. For me it seems like they just put the "Oh Oh Ohh" in there for some weird reason because it doesn’t rlly fit in :(. I liked the whole song but without that part it would have been great, and also the musicvideo is lacking a whole lot so I totally agree… And then the members!! Love all of them but that’s far from a fair line distribution. Bahiyyih not getting half of the lines or screen time she deserves. Yujin got adlibs and a bit of screen time but not much either.. I feel bad because I almost forgot Mashiro and Hikaru were in it as well because of lack of screen time and standout parts. I’m disappointed but at the same time I’m not because I expected it in a way?? Idk.. You should really check out their song MVSK because if that would have been their debut song instead, Oooof I would have fainted because it was that good❤️ Happy new year as well! 🎆 Can’t wait to see you react to U+Me=Love and the other songs that’s left on Girls planet 999💜

M

I agree with all your criticism and praise! The post-chorus kind of breaks my enjoyment of the song a little bit :( and the MV is really not up to par. Other than that, their debut showcase was awesome. I’m not a fan of scripted content, but the showcase only had like 15 minutes or so of the girls reading lines. They had really cool variety segments that showed the girls’ chemistry, and made you learn more about the members. There were also stages for shine, wa da da and MVSK. MVSK really makes all the members shine in my opinion. The choreo is insane and the song highlights the members super well, can’t wait for you to check it out :)

Irving

I love kep1er so much that the song will have to grow on me yes or yes and I'm sure it will lol, for now I Like it, I wish I could have seen more of bahiyyih tho but everyone did so good and chaehyun also as a main vocal and center did so good. Now MVSK THAT IS THE SONG Like omg is so good the choreo, outfits and line distribution, perfect, is my fav song of the album

Wiktor

I have to say I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in this debut. Especially since it was giving me 'Baby Pristin' vibes and I LOVED Pristin sound. the 'oh oh' part SERIOUSLY ruined it for me. every time I hear it, its super repetitive and its already gotten on my nerves. I don't think I've ever been so turned off by a song this early... I wished for more VOCALS. maybe a HIKARU rap... I think Xiaoting ATEEEEE with her visuals and presence, and Dayeon INTRO WAS SOOO FIRE!!!! it got me sooo hyped for the song at first, then the 'oh oh' part came'... I WISHED they went with the vibe that the song had with Dayeon at the start. I found the Kep1er wa da da da part cute and well made tbf. I also hope Kep1er doesn't keep ChaeHyun as centre as she really doesn't suit it imo. Think she's the ONLY 'MNET Produce' centre who I'm very disappointed we got. I dont want to be too critical but Yeseo and Yujin give me the exact same energy and vibe in kep1er which kind of blends them into one person for me... those two really dont stand out to me in this MV ngl.

ghoulshima

I agree with basically everything you said in this video. The cutesy breakdown in the chorus was definitely brought down by the choreography, they could've done a lot more there to make it more interesting to look at, especially considering it's supposed to be like the key point dance of the song. About their dancing not being in sync, this must've been filmed some time back because they were 1000x better in their debut showcase lmao

Daniela Madrid

Honestly all your thoughts for wadada are exactly like my own. I was quite disappointed with the line distribution cause my girl bahiyyih only got one line as well as other girls but in MVSK there is better line distribution and I think I personally like MVSK better only cause of my music preference but all in all it was a good debut can’t wait for what they become in the future. Also would really love to see you react to the live performance for MVSK cause it’s amazing the girls look fantastic.

Fadi - moonlight

You'll be so mad that MVSK isn't the title track when you watch the live stage for it. Cuz it would've been groundbreaking. But yeah I agree with your points. The line distribution isn't actually horrible if you watch the live stage except for like Bahiyyih's lines (which she gets a lot better lines in MVSK!)

Sarahvtae

Btw PD...P1harmony had their comeback today too...i'm looking forward to your reaction/review. Also i've mentioned it before...you sadly didn't react to their 2nd album "Disharmony: Stand out"...in case you do an album listening party for their new release...could you maybe do both of these albums in one video? Since they're both mini albums :)

Daniela Madrid

Like it’s understandable that sometimes not everyone gets enough lines cause there’s 9 members but she could have been given more screen time to compensate for the lack of lines but we still couldn’t have that at least in MVSK she really shines

Isabella N.

alright, update: i listened to the ep and watched the live performances, and WHY COULDN’T MVSK BE THE TITLE TRACK OMG 😩 it showcases the members so much better imo

dani

I thought it was a nice debut but the live performance made it so much better! You should definitely check the live stage out & also their bside performances! mvsk was so good, I think you’ll like that one a lot! Overall, their debut was okay, not really a standout but I’ll definitely be bumping this in the car on my way to work lmao.. hope you feel better & I’m excited to see your reactions to the final of gp999!

Amanda Bernström

PD. you must see their live performance of MVSK. Everything about the song, the stage and their visuals is GOOD.

adri

through the 2 mv teasers, and the highlight medley they spoiled like half the song, and so even though i really enjoyed it, the first listen didnt have as much impact because i felt like i had already heard the song. i was really excited, and am disappointed to have been a bit underwhelmed

St4rkill3r

I actually like the Debut. Definitely respect them for going with something more expiremental. My only issue with the post chorus "oh oh ohh" part is that it is present in all 3 choruses, I´m just not the biggest fan of having the same chorus 3 times in a song. If they did that for the last chorus only and then maybe with a little more impact the song would´ve been perfect for me. Yes it was kinda lacking a high note for some vocal impact but i also don´t know how they would´ve fit that in with a rap heavy bridge. For the other songs on the album, Another Dream is easily one of my favorite Ballads. MVSK is just incredible, they could´ve used that one as a title track for sure, especially because it has both a Dance break and a high note. Sad that See the light ist just a intro but whatever.

Mia

You gotta watch Mvsk, I liked it so mich more than the actual title track. Also, Xiaoting was the one member that stood out the most to me.

Nico Engels

I really liked WA DA DA. I agree that the post chorus (or second part of the chorus?) seems out of place in the MV but it somehow does not in the spotify version for example. The choreo for that part seems weird to me so I think that is it. Many people point out that MVSK should have been the title track and I see what they mean but I also think that would have been received as a boring. For me I like both songs a lot. I think MVSK reminds me of a TWICE b-side but I cant place which one right now.(edit: as someone below pointed out it fills the IZ*ONE Sequence spot for me) WA DA DA is the more risky approach I think and it is kinda too ambitious for its own good for a debut song but I got to like it because of the debut stage performance a lot more. The MV kinda doesnt do it for me but I live for the live performances that are about to come. To comment on lines I think people are almost never happy with line distributions in groups with that many members but I think these people need to accept that sometimes people have more lines depending on the song and sometimes they have less. So my approach is that I want to see what happens in future comebacks. Definitely not disappointed with the debut! :)

Anonymous

I'm happy with it except Bahiyyih's lines. Like I at least expected more screentime, bc she is literally P02, which means she is hella popular and many will be quiet upset not to see her around. Like in all other survival shows the 1st and 2nd always get at least more screentime, if not lines.

excellen

I like the song but don't love it yet. I glad that is more cohesive and not as disjointed as the teasers made it out to be. But I wanted that "oh oh oh" part to be only in the final chorus for an outro instead of after every chorus...The first part of the chorus is fine even if it is more chanting/sing talking but they should have followed with a more melodic second part where they sing to make the chorus more full and give more opportunities for more people to sing. Also as Mashiro fan I wished for more singing parts for her but I know is hard with these type of songs with a lot of chanting parts where all of them sing together. And I'm okay with the concept even if it's not super unique since they can develop the concept more over time.

Oligom

PD, i don't like to exaggerate but you NEED to watch the debut showcase, because the live performances and the ot9 version of shine, and the stage for MVSK are just too good for you to miss out

Anonymous

Your critiques actually remind me of your reaction to Enhypen’s Given-Taken. I mean, songs and MVs are very different, but the points you mentioned, like MV art direction and not showcasing the members properly kind of sound familiar.

Cristine

I share the exact same disappointments as you, but I will be waiting for a (possible) Japan release and hopefully the music video gets a similar treatment as given taken Japan version. Cuz honestly, the girls look good as hell, but the overall execution was not it. On the other hand…MVSK truly is that girl and will remain as the best song on this album imo. Can't wait for you to hear it! :D

Tesa

I too was very disappointed by the debut. The song had no impact (I've forgotten what it sounds like) and the choreo was sooo simple! This choreo for all the girls who slayed every performance on GP99?? What were they thinking lol and of course the unfair line distribution and screentime also makes me like it less.. I'll have to check out MVSK since so many are recommending it. I hope their company does better moving forward!

Doyoungismyult

I really dislike the title track 😩 I like the first part of the chorus..but I do not like the second part

Tesa

exactly! you can't tell what sound they were going for, girls crush or cute.. it's sad this is their debut :(

Holly

i loved it so much! i thought it was weird after first listen but by second listen i was already vibing :D the only things i thought was lacking was unfortunately the dancing. i mean, there are so many incredible dancers in this group- dayeon, xiaoting, hikaru, youngeun, etc. what i wish is that they made the choreo more difficult (or at least seem more difficult) during the "oh oh oh" part. i actually like that part music wise, but not choreo wise. to me it seemed easy and just kind of awkward (like they were just twiddling their thumbs or something). i feel like they could have kept that choreo for maybe the first time that part appeared, but changed it up the second and third and created some awesome choreography. i just think those 45 seconds had so much more potential, and it was used on this repetitive choreography. the dancing everywhere else was good, but overall it didn't stand out to me (which was disappointing because i was looking forward to their dancing based on the members). i'm not a dancer though, so who knows. overall though this song has been on replay!! the prechorus is SO good idk but i just find it so satisfying :)

anejelly

Just like what others mentioned I too have a few disappointments in this debut. I know they weren't part of produce series but I guess I was expecting a little too much because of how iconic all the debut songs were from those group. My number 1 disappointment has to be the choreography. Kep1er literally has about 3 main dancers and seeing MVSK I'm pretty sure they can dance way better than the choreography given to them. As for the title track, it's not the best, and like you said it wasn't perfect but it's not that bad for me as I actually liked the pre-chorus. 2nd is the line distribution. Not gonna lie few of them are not even part of my top 9 but I really hate it whenever I feel like some of them are not being noticed at all. I hope it gets better next time especially for Hiyyih, Mashiro and Hikaru.

h

I’m too disappointed by the debut title track. I’m not a fan of the 2nd half of the chorus or the choreo & I feel like all of the potential the girls showed in gp999 was not utilised in their debut to establish kep1er as the force that I know they can become. Also the line distribution & screen time was disappointing but also as someone who biases people like svt’s jun & nct’s taeil , unfair distribution & screen time is just what I’ve become used to. I do think the producers & choreographers missed the mark with their debut but I just know once the group find their footing & colours they’re going to be a dominating group in 4th gen.

billie27

I personally really liked the song but I agree with the mv being quite disappointing and we could see them not really being in sync but I understand since mnet wanted to make an early debut. Since the mv was probably ready since early december they probably didn't have enough time to make a prettier mv or for the girls to practice enough ! But in their showcase performance i enjoyed the choreo much more and their performance for MVSK is really good too !

Ally

The music video was disappointing, the background of the sets gave a vague idea of what the video was aiming for but nothing came together quite well. The backgrounds were boring and had no direct connection to the girls. Like the playground in front of a SILO? And there were barely any scenes of the girls actually touching props in the background or connecting themselves to that scene which made the video feel super one-dimensional and the feelings just got lost. The backgrounds looked like cheap sets that are behind idols on special stages, not in the background of their literal debut music video. The girls shined brightly whenever they came on screen and brought personality to these cheap scenes. The song felt lackluster and fell short of the "wow factor". It's not a terrible song, its just an okay song. However this debut sets the tone for the group usually and I didn't feel that, I didn't get Kep1er's tone with the song at all it just feels like a mashup of 2019 girl group songs. Still love the girls, the choreo wasn't bad except for the o-o-o part in the chorus. I'll be rooting for them next come back and I hope the company actually gives the girls expensive sets that utilize the girls charms, and not weigh them down.

ggoom

I personally don't mind the 2nd part of the chorus, but I think it would be better if they only used it after the final chorus as an outro.

Dia

It feels like their team hasn’t quite figured out what Kep’s visual/sonic style is going to be. I think since they seem to be going for an experimental style, that might be why some things feel disconnected from each other. But you know what: I had similar thoughts about Pixy’s debut (the potential was there, but it felt unpolished) and they improved tremendously within their first year. I have every confidence that Kep will find their footing as well.

Anonymous

At first it just seemed like a lackluster debut that was rushed. After watching their debut show and seeing mvsk's performance I just felt extremely disappointed. Mvsk showcased their dance and vocal skills much more compared to wa da da. In all honesty, as much as I love Dayeon mnet seems like they're pushing for dayeon to be near the centre of the group. I was really disappointed to not see a ton of Chaehyun centre parts considering she was the real centre. I honestly expected more Chaehyun and Hiyyih centre bits just because they were first and second, but I guess mnet just didnt like them 😔

elizaa love

Whoops, sent the previous comment too soon! Well just some thoughts of my own: Yujin visually stood out to me a lot! Which, I love her, but she never did too much in CLC and even GP999 to me (in this way). The ponytail, slick look was killer. Dayeon, say what you will about bias, distribution, etc, but the girl has so much TALENT. I had my own frustrations with how they catapulted her in the show, but it doesn't mean i need to push that on her. Something about her rapping and the strength of her moves sold me on this debut. If PD ever watches live stages for this (highly recommend it), I think it'll prove my point more. She gives this song the drive it needed. Xiaoting got so many more lines than I expected, which is a very, very pleasant surprise. No one really holds center quite like my girl Xiaoting. Lastly, gotta give love to Chaehyun for the most comforting, beautiful, yet powerful vocals. She explodes on this track. Loved everyone else too of course!! Wish they (and Yujin, lets be honest) got more though. A girl can dream I suppose!

Anonymous

xiaoting’s position should be main slayer ‼️ also yeah the mv was a bit overwhelming, but their debut was successful so hopefully next time they will be able to go more high budget for the sets

excellen

Also just to complete my thoughts from my last post: yeah I wanted to hear more of Mashiro in the tt but I'm overall just glad she actually made it to the group after she dropped out of the rankings right before the finale. And for every Kep1er content after the end of the show she looks SO happy that in the end is all that matters to me.

Isabelle reffas

I saw GOT and Kep1er the same day, same conclusion: waste of talents. I mean one song is lyrically offensive and both do nothing for me melody wise. Let's hope the next songs will improve because veterans or newcomers these great artists deserve better. They sure try to make lemonade out of the lemons they are being given,.

Brooklyn

Obviously I know line distribution won’t ever be perfect but it is much easier to have far better distribution with a nine-member group than they achieved here. I mean fuck IZ*ONE had twelve members and had better line distribution than this. I also just think the way the song was written didn’t lend itself well to splitting up sections fairly which is why you have Bayiyyah receiving the Vivi treatment where all of these background “hey’s” are counted as lines (and you know it’s bad when they had to give her slightly different choreo when they happened so people actually knew it was her). Like by the time she got her first actual line in the song nearly half of the members had already gotten two or three lines. Idk I do like the song and the members did great with what they were given but for such a highly anticipated group I expected far more thought, uniqueness, and polish than what Wa Da Da gave.

flowerbit

I really like the debut even though it’s not perfect. I’m hoping their first comeback will give them a more distinct idea of who they are as a group and a concept. But yeah the girls KILLED it here! My #1 girl I rooted for in the show was Mashiro so I’m so happy she debuted! And yeah Yeseo kinda wrecked me. Never thought I’d bias like, a 16 year old girl. But she slays too hard for me not to

希文 王

I like the song overall, but agree with most that the “oh oh oh” part was not that great, could’ve been like one of the three second half choruses and they could’ve changed that part up more (which might’ve led to more lines for other members?) personally the screentime and line distribution feels less reflecting of the girls’ final ranking and more of what mnet wished had happened ( xiaoting, dayeon, yeseo center with token popular members yujin, hikaru, bahiyyih and the others) but that’s my conspiracy theory (I warched iz*one’s la vie en rose several times and I think you could kind of tell the rankings by screentime), but I’m at least glad they decided to debut with something more hardhitting! Same as others, it does feel a little like Pristin’s wee woo, and mvsk gives me iz*one sequence vibes, but in a good way! So I’ll still be looking out for their comeback

Joy

I personally loved the way the teasers sounded so my expectations for the song were high! Sadly, they were not reached. The wa da da and o’s are so so repetitive. Also, I know that there are 4ish rappers but I did not think they would rap for the entire song. I think if they changed the bridge and got rid of one of the O sections and let the vocalists have some time to shine the song could have been way better. I am a Hiyyih biased person (the only reason I followed the show and group is because of her) and the fact she has around 40 seconds of singing time on an almost 20-minute album is something I am greatly sad and disappointed in (especially since most of her lines in the album are “hey” and “ay ya ya”). I find it weird that the most popular global member was given little to no screen time as well bc Hiyyih, has a majority of solo stans and they are not going to watch something she isn't in (hence why the mv views are very slow but her fancam has more views than the group performance on m2). I understand why MVSK was not the tt because it doesn't have a huge “look at me vibe” but I feel like the vibe and choreography of the song suit all the members so much better! I can only hope that WakeOne does a better job utilizing ALL the members instead of focusing on the same 5 for the next come back :,(

I honestly love every part of the song, the choreo is amazing too. I just wish huening could've gotten more lines, and maybe hikaru could've gotten one small rap part from dayeon. i haven't check out the other songs yet but I'm excited!

For me the Wa da da da and the oh oh oh threw me off a little, but overall I liked the song. As for vocals and more Youngeun you could react to the sub unit with Chaehyun, Dayeon e Youngeun singing This Christmas, just AMAIZING vocals.

This debut takes me back to the time Iz*one debuted. It's been a while since I've been watching performances for the 30th time still screaming and fanboying like a whole mess. Girls planet999 was my highlight in a turbulent 2021, was not specifically satisfied with Wa da da, even though it is a grower. Mvsk and the other content they've released like the christmas cover for Taeyeons This Christmas has been amazing.

IMO, a debut should do 2 things: 1) establish the musical and visual identity of a group as much as possible 2) establish each member (their roles and strengths) as much as possible I think the song and video failed at both. Like, what concept are we going for? Space? Cute? Teencrush? Girlcrush? All of the above? None of the above? It's like we get a buffet of different styles and concepts, but nothing seems to come together. Which is weird, cuz the show was called Girls Planet 999, there was this cosmic aesthetic everywhere, but then they crammed in everything else like they were throwing ideas at a wall, seeing what sticks. As for the members - IMO, the only ones who really stood out to me were Xiaoting and Dayeon because of their presence, and Hikaru in her solo scene. No one is really given anything interesting to do, no one is given anything to set them apart. Well, maybe Xiaoting in her intro part, and Hikaru in her radio lab thing, That being said, this is just my opinion, and I hope their first comeback will be stronger.

I like WDD, it’s a solid debut & also a banger, although I think they could do better. I think this is a solid place to grow from in future comebacks. Xiao Ting really did give us everything, she’s incredible; I loved center Chaehyun but also would appreciate more opportunity for her & Youngeun to show off their vocals. And yes more Bahiyyih, she killed it here & I’d love to see her do more next time. Mashiro is my ult so you know I’d love to see so much more of her - and Yujin tbh. But they all killed it.

This is coming from someone who didn't watch GP999 and doesn't know who any of the girls are (apart from Bahiyyih). I liked the debut. Did I think it was good? Yeah. Did I think it was great? No. Does it make me want to learn more about the girls? Not yet. Am I excited to hear what else they got (now or in the future)? Definitely. As a debut and not having any attachment to the girls, I wasn't super impressed by the song or the music video. Yeah sure, they're both shiny and it's obvious the girls have boatloads of talent but at this point they're not something I'm looking forward to (maybe I am more now that woo!ah! FINALLY released new stuff).

It was really weak to say the least. It felt like Swing Entertainment (I guess they're in charge of the artistic) didn't even try. I'll give See the Light (especially since it's composed by Park Woosang) and MVSK a go but I've been pretty much disappointed until now music wise.
