Yes I do agree with everything you said about soo ah. She as an orphan grew up in massive insecurity. Therfore she made all her decisions in order to be secure, this includes financial, emotional and physical security. When se royi got out of jail, she did not trust him enough to secure her financially and emotional which makes sense considering he was a middle school graduate exconvict. When she did eventually fell that he was secure enough to trust sae ro yi, she could not feel emotionally and physically secure enough to detach herself from Jang Dae yi In fact , I believe that if he wasn't as sick as he was , she might not have had the courage to leave. The fact that she had been gathering all that data shoes that she had been planning to leave in the last ten years but just couldn't. She was stuck in a prison of her own making. While sae royi had the people of danbam around him, she just like geum won had no one. Sae ro yi despite accepting her faults , did not try to understand her ( am not saying he owes her that). It'd kinda sad how her life went

Hi PD!! For the next kdrama after Itaewon Class I hiiiighly suggest you check out NEVERTHELESS!! It deals with topics that are a bit taboo in Korea and is also much less conservative than most kdramas, I'm really curious as to what your take on it would be!

I think narrowing it down to "Yi-Seo is why he did it" undermines a lot of his character. The whole shows revolves around personal freedom and misfits finding their place. And it is what Saeroyi values more than anything. I 100% feel it was a no-brainer and he would do it for every single person in his company.

Nevertheless was a surprise to me. I wasn't a big fan of the summary but I saw it had Song Kang and after Sweet Home & Navilerra I'm willing to give everything a chance he is in.... I wasn't ready for this drama! AT ALL!

PD I think you should check out Run On after this drama. It's quite a healing drama that teaches about human morals in a way and it speaks about the hierarchy and corruption in sports in Korea, it's also quite a soft romance. I REALLYYYY recommend it for the next drama

YES !! i love run on, the romance is really cute and healthier than a lot of kdrama relationships i’ve seen, and the topics it discusses are really interesting. i also think PD (and Blaire) would really like the lead characters. it also seems pretty in line with some of the other kdramas they’ve watched, like itaewon class and it’s okay to not be okay

this episode is amazing! the moment where saeroyi kneels is so powerful and you can see how much hes grown through out the years and the things hes been through like how he would put his pride over everything but now hes willing to put that aside for the people he loves and realized that are things much more difficult than to do that and about Soo Ah yeah she is indeed selfish, the reason she got into Jangga was completly for egoism but i get it since she had look out for herself since she was young but in the middle of things i do think she became afraid to leave and stand up because she knew all the terrible things Jang Dae hee did and she sometimes felt bad about being in the company and having to do things against Saeroyi so i truly think shes not a bad person even tho she is very selfish, many times she wanted to leave and do better but was just always afraid of doing so

Upshot

It's coming to an end.. TT Itaewon Class strength really are those incredibly powerful moments - Saeroyi kneeling, the press conference where Jang Daehee abandoned Geun-won etc. The show definitely has its weaknesses, but wow! even on rewatch those moments are still as powerful as on first watch. With all the recommendations for a new drama in this thread already, I want to add some as well in case you're looking for a new one: these aren't really any underground choices, but there usually is a reason for dramas (and other stuff) to belong to the most succesful ones. So if you haven't watched these already I'd recommend something along the lines of Goblin/도깨비, Sky Castle (it's about the elite being terrible, especially to their children. And reaaally good!), My Mister (a bit of a corporate drama, but good. Itaewon Class's Soo-ah is there as well, and probably IU's best role yet as a morally grey character), Crash Landing on You (about a rich heiress accidentally flying to North Korea and trying to get back south. Perhaps my personal favourite although I've heard many people consider it a bit cheesy)

Search:WWW would be great!! It's a couple years old now but the power dynamics between the 3 female leads are so interesting. Plus, the always gorgeous Lee Dahee is a major plus 😍😍😍

Am I the only one who thought soo ah did everything on purpose from the beginning? I felt like she tried to act selfish so that saeroyi wouldn’t try to stop her or get involved so he could focus on himself. But that’s just how I interpreted it when I first watched.. please don’t burst my hopeful bubble 😂☺️

you should definitly react to extracurricular. The actor which plays Geung soo plays the main character its its so freaking good.
