honestly the reason I personally find this show particular appealing to me is learning about the lives of other people. I just love the concept of just a place where all kinds of people meet and learning about the lives of others really fascinates me.

""Orange group" is "오렌지족"(o-ren-ji-jok) in Korean. It means in 90s at Seoul Apgujeong (압구정), meeting girls and boy with the background of the economic strength of the parent and bringing brand goods, for example, riding around in sports cars and luxury cars. It is how the young people to the way of life to enjoy. Plenty of use pocket money at several million won, and being far from general young people, there has a negative connotation. Orange group, is the child of economically successful parents in the 80s from 70s."(http://www.koreanary.com/w/24927) But of course Sangsoon and Hyori didn't use this word in a negative tone.

I'd say the healing aspect of this show comes later with more of the interactions with guests and the exploration of Jejudo. It's the little things that made it healing for me. Hyori talks about lots of kinds of "Life Lessons", I think is the best way to put it, when she's talking with IU. I definitely think it takes a few episodes for it to settle into it's healing groove. Also if you didn't know before, IU comes into the show starting from episode 3. While in season 2 SNSD's Yoona is the "employee" with an extra appearance in later episodes of Park Bogum. It might not be the most healing thing you'll watch but I hope you at least get something out of it. Edit: as mentioned below a lot of unwanted attention came to their home which led to it becoming a place that people would actually add to their tours of the island. There would be people taking pictures over the wall to see inside. There were even a couple of people who climbed over the wall and were walking around their home. The doorbell ringing got so bad that they had to disconnect it completely. In the end they ended up moving. The company who hosted the program agreed to buy it off of them so that nobody used the property for anything else and Hyori and Sangsoon moved somewhere else. It’s really infuriating that people are so insensitive to others privacy.

Agreed. The mix of people of all different kinds of backgrounds and seeing them interact with each other.

As someone else mentioned, the healing moments come off more when the guests and IU arrive. Some guests have interesting backstories. The talks between Hyori and IU about life are also one of the most healing aspects of the show given they have pretty much the same background and can relate very well to each other. The other thing I guess not mentioned by others is the island itself. The show does such a good job surveying the landscape of Jeju-do that even as a non-Korean, I feel proud of it. I've personally been to Jeju-do twice and they were both great experiences. Most variety shows will be full of huge laughter, games and fun. Not that it does not exist in this one but it turns it down 10 notches and is yet able to captivate the audience with its content. As a side note, because of the popularity of the show, many tourists came flocking to their home like it was an attraction. If I can recall an article I read, it definitely annoyed the couple.

What a way to start my day, thank you PD

this show just keeps getting better and better throughout the series.

I usually call her the Beyoncé of Korea. Because of the whole similarity if you think about destiny's child.

Sangsoon really is the star of this show for me, I came for IU and Hyori when I watched this and really ended up appreciating his chill demeanor and casual humor. Super cool dude

Hey PD, I really recommend you watch drama 'My Mister'. Its was critically acclaimed in Korea for its very unique screenplay and a healing kind of vibe that it provides viewers. Also IU as the female lead has done one heck of a good job portraying her role. Even Paulo Coelho appreciated the drama.

The appeal for me is how relaxing the show is and just experiencing the setting, all of that is healing for me. The show is full of just simple moments and enjoying life and other people. There's also a lot of people that come in and out and we get to see snippits of their lives and personalities before they leave and move on with their lives and that in itself is very refreshing and eye opening to me. I also just love Hyori Sangsoon and IU together, their personalities are very comforting to me.

To me the biggest flex in the entire program is having Koreas biggest soloists for the past decade as a housekeeper without making it seem like anything extraordinary.

Krista

Honestly the appeal of the show for me was Park Bogum who appears next season as he's one of my favourite actors and doesn't do much variety or personal content so I wanted to watch him, but what kept me watching was how relaxing and healing it was. And after learning so much about Hyori I'm now a huge fan. I think it's amazing how such a big star can be so down to earth and have such a temperament as her. But yes it's been mentioned but I think because of the whole thing being new and exciting for them at this point it's less of the "healing vibes" but I've rewatched season 2 so many times just to relax and enjoy that feeling.
