Hey PD. I cannot access a lot of the videos on Vimeo for Loona. (Which is a large majority of the Loona reaction playlist you made.) Is there a reason why? Sorry for my lack of knowledge , I just subscribed.

KpopPrince

Oh I'm very ready for this!

Iris

omg i’m not sure if this is the new office setup but its super pretty, and aesthetically pleasing to me

formoftherapy

It's 100% temporary. It'll take me probably a month to actually build my new studio set up, possibly longer depending on lumber prices and the heat and my workload. So I might be in this setup for at least 1 - 2 months so I was very conscious about at least having a somewhat aesthetically tolerable set up :)

Marcel Wannieck

You're right, Be Honest was the one song they didn't perform at the concert. A more PG word for "seductive" could be "alluring", perhaps?

Thildia

enticing for seducing ? Drawing you out ?

Mima

Hey PD just wondering whether the drama club episodes will be dropping today? :> excited to check this EP out with you!

Wodgenia

oh....the description scares me a little bit. Went to a rollercoaster today, so i'm so happy to watch it tho :')

Oligom

for a moment i had to doublecheck if i clicked on the patreon notification for PD or not because i saw your comment and thought this was your patreon for a second LMAO

i didn’t expect pd to like a different night that’s a twist I wouldn’t have predicted. Also for some reason wow is my fav bside its so good!

Cherry

The west just could never meet the artistry of the kpop world. You would never hear a song like “a different night” here. It’s like getting an autotuned, microwaveable ramen versus a delicious ramyeon made by the grandma who runs a Korean restaurant downtown on the corner. There’s just a clear difference in quality and it’s an obvious choice on which you’d rather eat.

Wodgenia

A little more info about [&] ^^ - "Be Honest" was supposed to be on # but they kept it for Haseul return - The lyricist of "Be Honest" is the same than "So What" and Universe - "A Different Night" and "U R" are both written by a same team (Chansline)...which is....funny considering PD ranking :')

Amanda Bernström

Finally this is out :D Btw any updates when the delayed drama club reactions is being released?

A.D

wow I was typing while listening to you talk about U R and ended up writing, "you are a star " . Anyway, I actually like that one, just very mellow and cute (edit- just happened again I need to wake up omg)

i just gotta put this out into the world because i’ve been thinking about it ever since i first listened to be honest and it’s driving me insane. the bass part of that song changes from some sort of keyboard/piano-esque sound to a full out bari sax at the 30 second mark. don’t get me wrong, the song slaps. the bari part slaps. i just don’t know w h y they did it and every time i listen to it, my ears go directly down to that part of the song

CladJisoo

Hey PD, where would PTT be on your ranking?

Rowie de Riel

My favorite song on the album is currently Be Honest. It started out as a bit of a weird but pretty fun song for me but quickly grew on me, especially after I heard someone say it reminded them of a Red Velvet song. I think that made the sound really click with me. I think it sounds a bit like Umpah Umpah, which is actually my favorite RV title track. So I really love it now. For UR I'm not bothered by the lyrics, though I'll admit I'm not always a lyrics person with kpop anyway, I only rarely look them up if I'm really invested. But I heard a city pop remix of UR on youtube and GOOD HEAVENS I need loona to do city pop now. I loved it so much. Again, I'm not much of a mash up person usually but this was done really well and the lofi beat in UR blended with it super nicely. Also I'm a city pop fan in general (Yukika stan right here), so I'll be wishing for a loona city pop song from now on. DOMO really grew on me as well. I thought it was too simple and bring at first, but the catchiness got me and I think the lyrics are really tastefully done and you can tell how hard the girls worked on pronunciations. The only *tiny* issue I have with it is "I don't wanna be somebody who let's somebody hold me if they hold me back", I feel like it's awkwardly worded and redundant (if they hold you they're already holding you back... there's kind of no other way XD) But it's all good because of Choerry's part and Kim Lip's nice runs and it's a song I can see myself putting on in the background when non-kpop initiated people are around. There still hasn't been an album to beat XX for me. But I'm loving PTT so much more then So What and Why Not. So What did really grow on me but I'm just not a dubstep person and the first time I listened to it it genuinely gave me a headache. So PTT also goes hard but it has a much nicer and also more unique beat imo. I also like the topline more with really nice vocals and overall a more melodic singing style. And though Why Not is really good and cute and fun, PTT is more my style and I really enjoyed the bollywood influence. In conclusion I hope they're gonna do a city pop song next.

flowerbit

I really enjoyed this album a lot. But I think it’s one of my less favorite loona albums. I loveeee the title track. And my top b sides are probably wow, a different night, and u r. But I have found I’m not listening to this album as much as I did to 12:00 and # when they released. It’s a good album though. I’m excited for the future with loona too

guy man

Dance on my own is def one of the best loona songs out there I'm glad you liked it so much, feels good to finally hear a song promoting being single instead of a love song for the 1000th time

Donslaught

This is actually my first LOONA album and I think I landed with an overall about the same as PD, but my song rankings are different. I really liked Dance On My Own. I think I may need to listen to A Different Night more to really appreciate it but for first impressions I didn't really enjoy it. I think I may not be in the right place in life to enjoy slower songs, but that's just me. But I do have a question for you, PD: I can understand that you don't (usually) but why don't you listen to title tracks during LPs? To me title tracks are still part of the album, whether or not you've already heard it and I feel like omitting them from LPs may affect how you hear the rest of the songs. You've said yourself how some songs hit differently because of the track that preceded it and I was just wondering why you leave those out.

Gingie

as someone who does not understand Korean, I loved UR. I dont understand the lyrics anyways so I can just enjoy the song

duster8up

LOL.. Like Money is most certainly not a great song.... BUT... MY GOD is it catchy!!!

BlueStylus

yikes, that's harsh! you're not entirely wrong, but I think there are still Western artists (American in particular, I can't speak to other countries cuz I don't know about their music) who make emotional and high quality music. example off the top of my head, some of olivia rodrigo's songs are deeply personal and she shows her emotions well! yes, the Western market is saturated with generic sex-positive songs, but k-pop also has its fair share of cookie-cutter nonsense songs. this elitism that k-pop is somehow superior to all other genre's has got to stop, we should respect all music even if we don't like it!

BlueStylus

was it chordio? I love their stuff so much lol. loona is real good at like chill pop songs, I think they would fit city pop perfectly. a city pop title track would absolutely blow my mind!!

aylalala

Would have loved if they incorporated some bollywood elements into some of their b-sides! Would have made the album more cohesive with the title track

Micado

I love UR, it's a 11/10 for me, especially on this album.

Ann Hou

But do u imagine pd be like "Omg Wow sounds so good after listening to Ptt 😲😳 bla bla" in this situation :')

Bob Ablaw

I think a good way of encapsulate my take on this album is it might be the first album where the b-sides as a whole don't really approach exceeding the excellence of the title track. There are tracks on this album I love, but they don't necessarily stand out as much compared to PTT. Aside from the more "basic" chorus, PTT as a song was incredibly interesting and memorable to me all the while giving us their most vocal-driven title track so far. As good as Why Not? was it sort of lacked in that department. They've still yet to disappoint me with a release of theirs. The only disappointment was them having to cut promotions short due to the COVID scare with their staff as well as the damn Olympics! We only got something like 7 stages on music shows this time, which is quite the reduction since they've had longer than average promotion periods so far. But hey, they got a win with Haseul, so not all was lost.
