Been waiting for this one!

Kim Chaewon

ahyeon is definitely hitting that live everytime. she was already flexing her insane vocals at their concerts for her sheesh high note

They are literally monsters ! This is amazing !

Both songs are title tracks actually. They released performance MVs for both and will perform both on music shows (which might just be Inkigayo, I'm not sure if M!Countdown will air since MAMA is in 2 weeks). I loved both songs, which is surprising because I don't like rap songs usually. I think this is what I wanted from Babymonster as well, something different. While I love Batter Up and Sheesh, I can't help but think of Blackpink when I hear them, but this album doesn't feel like Blackpink and I'm really happy for that because Babymonster are too talented to be only known as Blackpink copy.

I am not sure if G-Dragon being involved in the production of this song makes me so biased and that is why I am so into this song or if that would happen regardless, but DAMN!! This is the perfect embodiment of BABYMONSTER & this is the song and music video I have waited the whole time since the Last Evaluation. Besides Like That, which caught me off guard, everything seemed like they were held back for some reason and not that Like That let them be unleashed, but the beauty of the song is the fact it being so unexpected and originally meant for Charlie Puth, therefore it created such a unique style & sound with Baemon being on that song/it being served as their song. I think the only reason for them being held back until now was the fact that BLACKPINK did not renew their contracts for group promotions, therefore it being unclear when anything will be released, so YG Ent. needed to make sure to keep both YG fans & Blinks interested in this group, because Baemon is meant to be the first step in the YG Next Movement with them being basically the engine of YG now (with Treasure something as the “pre-step/half step”, but their situation will always be complicated because of the timing of their debut and what was happening with YG during the time…). Which is basically the thing I said about BABYMONS7ER (the debut mini album)… that I like it and appreciate it a lot, but only as for their debut and for anything else which is yet to come, I want them to bring something new/fresh to the YG table and to provide them their own style/sound. Obviously the perfect scenario would have been if something like this was their debut, so there wouldn’t have been any doubts about their upcoming releases and all of that. And sure… that would have been fvcking wild debut (also if it was a full length album too!), but I dare to say they would have been able to live up to the hype and they would have surpassed that too, because that is simply the power this group has!! But at the same time it feels somehow destined and it probably has made me involved in this group even more and it created a special reason why I love them so much. Like… seeing this whole journey, having high hopes which come true after all of that. Something similar as in the case of me appreciating BABYMONS7ER. Sure… obviously the perfect scenario would have been them releasing the whole mini album as it was planned before Ahyeon went on hiatus, which was intentionally having Sheesh music video in the halloween-like/spooky vibes to match the November vibes and not releasing Batter Up without Ahyeon instead of that without any promotions and therefore not retconning both Batter Up and Stuck In The Middle as pre-debut/pre-release songs, which lead to retconning Sheesh as THE DEBUT SONG. But things simply happened the way they happened and obviously I HAVE NEVER wished anything bad to happen to Ahyeon, but the moment they reunited together on Sheesh and the whole mini album, it made me so emotional and that was partially because of the fact of not seeing all 7 of them together in those two music videos prior to Sheesh. And sure… if we think about it from the perspective that YG would have had to release Sheesh in the same style regardless if it was released in November with Ahyeon, we can say it is rather their fault of not being interesting enough for BLACKPINK to make them want to renew completely, which would have provided YG the option to present Baemon in this “Driptastic way” right from the debut. So yeah… we can blame YG for that and technically things could have been different. But we cannot blame Ahyeon for her hiatus, so because of that it makes me feel like it was destined to happen that way to make BABYMONST7ER as their first mini album being so special and kind of iconic for the rest of their career. I would compare that mini album to 2NE1’s debut mini album… regardless of what 2NE1 released after their debut, the mini album stayed somehow special/unique and iconic (I am not saying better than anything else, but rather something like “hard to compare to anything else”). And that is possible to apply to Drip and this whole full length album too, because the “power of destiny” in this case comes from the things, which made BABYMONS7ER being so “destined”. Like… in a week or two it will have been a year since Batter Up was released and in about 2 months it will have been 2 years since this group/project was announced to happen, which marked the moment of me being interested and all I can say: “What a ride, guys… what a ride!!” Sheesh (the sound, not the song…), I have talked about things making this all possible to happen, but I did not say anything regarding me and my opinion on this… The music video is simply: “there is no limit regarding the budget for it”. They knew what they had to do for this release! Then… every member got to shine so equally here!! Even Rora gets her spotlight PROPERLY! She even led the choreo at the final part!! We got Chiquita rapping as it was promised/mentioned in the final line up announcement video (I don’t count Clik Clak in this case, because that is a song of all of them being rappers). We got again Ahyeon both rapping and singing, but singing in the DANGEROUSLY level, which I have hoped for from the Last Evaluation. Both Ruka & Asa (our RNA of the Baemon’s DNA) got the best rap parts possible! Like… I FVCKING HOPE the “Ace-sa” (I don’t know how to write it correctly, the word play of her being the Ace and her name Asa, which is the name fans call her and the members as well) will be her signature/producer tag, I LOVE IT SO MUCH. And then… Ruka’s: “Y to the G, no copy, no knock off”… that is just… that’s MONEY!! But most importantly! This is their own sound! Sure… because of the girl crush concept and them being a YG girl group, there will always be similarities to both BLACKPINK & 2NE1, but this is not like Batter Up nor Sheesh. I was not into Batter Up, it felt like “making a copy of someone’s homework and trying to make it different, although it being obviously a copy of BLACKPINK’s b-side”. And I liked Sheesh a lot, but it still felt like: “a song being properly inspired by BLACKPINK”. But Drip gives truly Baemon’s vibes! Sure… I can imagine both 2NE1 & BLACKPINK performing with this song, but that does not change anything about the fact that this song is tailored for BABYMONSTER. I think their thing will be having the “fairy vibe/sauce” included in a girl crush concept. Both in the song but mainly in the music video I see features of Forever, which was the first song of theirs that felt fully unique (considering Like That provided a big throwback to the first generation of YG, therefore not being actually unique in the core sense of the word). And for the end… the choreo goes hard! I love Ruka by the end with her tongue out and touching/covering her upper teeth!! So… that is it from me for today! Thank you for the reactions and for reading it all! I truly enjoyed today’s drops & by the way, I do like the piece of clothes you are wearing in these videos!
