It is a very beautifull song with a very deep meaning that takes you back to your childhood when worries weren't such a big part of your life, but when you just look at the MV it also kinda looks like Onew is tripping balls. By the way PD, I must say you look very good these days. I am proud of what you have acchieved over the last year in terms of inner piece and physical attributes.

imo, this comeback is still one of the best kpop songs/mvs of all time in terms of artistry, I sobbed the first time I watched it lol😭 so you’re good pd, the lyrics are a masterpiece, they reminded me of something I read some time ago, I’m gonna quote it here cause it really fits in with the message onew wanted to deliver for us: “We try to help where we can, and try to survive our own trials and stresses, illnesses and elections. We work really hard at not being driven crazy by noise and speed and extremely annoying people, whose names we are too polite to mention. We try not to be tripped up by major global sadness, difficulties in our families or the death of old pets... And then there's a mass shooting, a nuclear plant melts down, just as a niece is born, or as you find love. The world is coming to an end. I hate that. In environmental ways, it's true, and in existential ways, it has been since the day each of us was born” there’s so much going on everywhere, at the same time, onew recognizes that in his lyrics, and what I find interesting in both this song and the quote is that none of them provide a solution or conclusion, they just state things and the person who’s reading it is the one who decides what to do with it. it’s just beautiful how we come into this world knowing that everything will eventually end, and we hang in there while millions of different stories are happening at the same time of ours, putting it that way sounds a lil complex ngl but we do it every single day. this song will always have a special place in my heart, it’s a reminder of existence itself, to bring what’s unconscious to conscious and to let things drift how life wants them to sometimes, I’m so glad you finally checked it out!!! You've seen a few of director Lee Rae Kyung's music videos by now, she has such a unique style, always a great result. She did Jaehyun's Smoke and Changmin's Fever for example, and the teasers for her new work with BTOB Changsub already look great!

Oh man thanks for these links I’m definitely going to check them out. And thank you for sharing that quote. That’s such an interesting observation that neither the quote nor lyrics provide a solution, maybe because there is none, but just bringing to consciousness the complexities of the world everyday. And for me at least, that perspective shift and reminder and conscious awareness is the solution in of itself. Being aware of it allows me personally to find some strange comfort that I think this song makes me resonate with.

Aww I'm so happy you reacted to this song. I knew you would like it. I'm sure you will enjoy the album as well. I wrote it before, but it's probably my favorite album ever. It's so comforting, and i always go back to listen to it and get blown away each time. All SHINee soloists are super talented, I tend to enjoy Key's solo work the most, just because it fits my personal taste more, but circle is so comforting and helped me a lot, especially during Onew's hiatus. I've seen him perfom circle a few times and got to see him again at a small festival in Tokyo last Saturday and even if I was really excited to hear his new songs live, once again circle was so powerful and meaningfull that I almost cried.

PD, album reminds me so much of RM’s Mono in a way that it’s therapeutic in a realistic way. I think people tend to be optimistic in a way that is not realistic sometimes, so albums embracing what things are are very precious and healing to me, as someone who doesn’t respond to optimism very well lol

Oh my God, thank you, PD. Thank you so much for listening to the song - coming here after a difficult day and seeing this made me cry. This song is something I cherish so much, and I would be so happy if everyone heard it. Although I had my doubts after writing that long emotional message a few days ago (as I felt like I was maybe too pushy or overwhelmingly emotional), seeing your reaction, seeing your appreciation and hearing your words makes me feel so happy you've found Circle at this exact time - right when you possibly needed it most. Just like I've found the song and the album at the time I needed it most. Like I've said, I really hope the beautiful words and the message will feel like a warm hand on your shoulder. And I'm sure that when you listen to the album, the comforting and healing nature of it will be something you'll appreciate. While Onew is a really powerful performer and a versatile vocalist, this album is more about feelings and healing, and Onew is masterful in this, even more so than what he showed during Sea of Hope. He sings from his heart, which I think is the reason his songs are so beautiful.

I feel the same way!!! for example, something I always try to keep present is that grief will always bring me back to love, the yearning for comfort that pain provokes in me is something that will always have me connected to love, compassion, etc, it’s literally a cycle (circle!!) and there’s so much we can heal with just bringing it into a different perspective through consciousness, such a beautiful concept

Circle was my top album of 2023. It was a great song but it gave me that eerie feeling he was going away. Fast forward now to new beginnings and great health! Glad to see onew better and glad to keep being able to see you PD
