"Is it really still not working?" Kyra asked nervously. She watched Victoria chanting the incantation from the spell book, but for some reason, the spell wasn't working. Victoria looked at her with a horrified look in her eye, and Kyra's heart immediately dropped.

After using the spell book to “temporarily” swap bodies so Victoria could take Kyra's physics exam for her, the two were having difficulties with switching back. It was supposed to be a temporary swap - they even made sure that there was nothing in the fine print about potentially getting stuck. Kyra had studied as much as she could about the spell book to make sure there would be no issues. While Victoria had been the one who said the spell, they both spent nearly half an hour together chanting the spell with the hope that one of them could trigger the book's magic.

Victoria, however, knew what the issue was. Since the incantation was in Latin, she was purposely mispronouncing the words. Victoria had been the original person who chanted the incantation, and so she was the only person who could use the spell.

She began to giggle silently as she watched Kyra struggle to pronounce the Latin correctly. It was hilarious to see the normally calm and collected Kyra losing her mind over something she couldn't control. Kyra was a smart girl, but when it came to speaking in Latin, she was hopeless too. And while she would end up pronouncing the spell perfectly from time to time, the requirement for Victoria to say it perfectly was still there.

"What are you laughing at?" Kyra asked angrily.

"Sorry, I'm just finding all of this so ironic," Victoria said. "I feel like we both did our research on this. We shouldn't have run into any issues, and yet here we are…"

"This is your fault!" Kyra shouted. She picked up the spell book and threw it at Victoria, who quickly dodged it. "You need to figure out how to get me out of your body so I can go back to mine! I DON'T WANT TO BE YOU FOREVER!"

"Calm down," Victoria said, rolling her eyes. "Besides, what's so bad about being in my body? You've always called me pretty." Victoria forced a smile. She knew that Kyra had always been a liar as a friend, and she always knew that Kyra was always the prettier girl between the two of them. That's what made keeping her body all so much better.

By taking her exam for her, she was easily able to convince Kyra to swap bodies with the spell book. Kyra thought she was being smart when she read into all of the possible scenarios, but Victoria was pleased to see that she still hadn't figured out the reason behind why they weren't swapping back.

"You're not taking this seriously," Kyra yelled. "Please, fucking think, Victoria. This was your idea. Fucking think!"

Victoria crossed her arms and smirked. "With that attitude, maybe I'll do a little less thinking."

Kyra let out a loud sigh and threw her hands up in frustration. She had no idea how to handle this situation. She wasn't a magic user, and she definitely didn't speak Latin. She looked up at Victoria with a defeated look in her eye. "Can you please help me figure this out?" she asked, trying not to cry.

Victoria looked at her with a blank stare. "I don't know. Maybe you should ask someone else. Someone who can actually figure out how to pronounce the Latin right," she said, pointing to herself. Before Kyra could piece together their predicament, Victoria took the spell book and left the room.

Kyra assumed that she was coming back, but Victoria was actually hiding the spell book for good. She had no desire to give Kyra a chance to steal back her beautiful body. By the time the body theft victim realized that Victoria knew more than she realized, the body thief cut off all contact and ended their friendship for good.
