Josephine cradled the wooden statue of a short woman, the inexplicable centerpiece of the bizarre occurrences that had disrupted the quiet life she shared with Eve, her younger sister. A frown etched its way onto Eve's face as she beheld the statue, a silent tension filling the room of their new apartment. Since the two had moved into their shared space, ready to embark on their college journey together, strange phenomena had become the new norm.

At first, it was innocuous oddities, like chairs that seemed to float around or objects disappearing without a trace. But things took an eerie turn when Eve began to change. The shy, reticent girl who had always stuck to the sidelines was suddenly the life of the party. She carried herself with a newfound confidence that was completely out of character. Josephine couldn't help but worry about the drastic change in her sister, and her fears were confirmed when a local paranormal investigator, Brad, identified the source of their troubles.

Brad, who was as experienced as he was intuitive, had recognized the presence of an entity residing within Eve from photographs. Upon examining the apartment, his attention had been drawn to the wooden statue. The carving was emitting a palpable energy, an aura of dark magic that seemed to have bound the spirit to Eve. Understanding the gravity of the situation, Brad left and decided not to help out here. He was afraid of what would happen to him, leaving Josephine and the cursed statue alone in the apartment.

When Eve returned home earlier than expected, she found Josephine standing in the living room with the statue in her hands. An intense confrontation followed, with Josephine attempting to communicate with the spirit possessing her sister. Her pleading words hung heavy in the air, but the spirit within Eve remained defiant.

The look on the little sister’s face looked like pure evil. “And what were you planning exactly? Look, you’ve figured me out. I get it. But how exactly do you plan on making me leave? I’ve had my chance in this body. I’ve had a chance to be alive. Being alive is intoxicating. I’m never giving this up.”

Deciding to take matters into her own hands, Josephine made a bold choice. “I have to try something,” she told the body thief. “I’m going to do whatever it takes to get you out of her body. You were the cause of way too much grief. And now I’m going to end this.”

The possessed woman laughed. “How?” With her heart pounding, Josephine threw the wooden statue onto the kitchen counter and pulled out a lighter. Part of the statue had a paper-like dress wrapped around the small piece of wood, and as the flames consumed the figure, Eve let out a guttural scream. The sound seemed to echo off the walls, filling the room with a chilling dread while the countertop became ruined from the heat.

A deafening silence filled the apartment. Eve collapsed and moaned while the vibrant energy within her seemingly struggled for control. Josephine rushed to her side, pulling her sister into a tight embrace. Eve, free from the spirit, was disoriented but safe. The atmosphere in the apartment felt lighter, the eerie tension replaced with a tangible relief. “What happened?” Eve whispered.

“Everything’s going to be fine. I’ll explain everything. I love you.” In the aftermath of the chilling event, Josephine held her little sister, their bond stronger than any spirit that had dared to try and break it. The wooden statue was nothing more than ashes on the ruined countertop. Its dark magic was extinguished forever.
