The sun streamed through the cracks in the curtains, casting a warm glow on the small room. Ashlynn stirred in her sleep, feeling a strange stiffness in her limbs. She tried to stretch and rub the sleep from her eyes, but something was terribly wrong. Panic bubbled up in her chest as she found herself unable to move, her body rigid and unresponsive. She willed herself to sit up, but her body refused to obey.

“What’s going on?” Ashlynn thought. The last spell she used was an astral projection spell to spy on her friends. She remembered returning to her body and immediately falling asleep, but she didn’t remember doing anything else.

The young woman had always been fascinated with magic, the art of bending reality to her will. Over the past few months, she had delved deep into the mystical arts, learning spells and charms that could alter her appearance, making her more beautiful and alluring. She had practiced tirelessly, driven by an insatiable desire to master the craft. Little did she know that her relentless pursuit of magical power would have dire consequences.

While Ashlynn remained there, trapped in her own body, she noticed the smooth texture of her skin, the unnatural stiffness of her limbs, and the eerie silence that enveloped her. A terrifying realization dawned on her: she had somehow become trapped in the plastic body of one of her dolls. She was no longer human; she was an inanimate object, her soul bound to a lifeless shell.

Fear coursed through her as she began to understand the gravity of her situation. The magic she had been practicing had caused her soul to latch onto something that wasn't living. She was fully aware that she was now a doll, and she desperately wished she could take back every spell and incantation she had ever uttered.

Suddenly, the door to her room creaked open, and Ashlynn's heart raced as she saw her own body walk into the room. The body moved gracefully, the way she had always wanted to move when she was alive, but it wasn't her. The doll that had once occupied the body she now inhabited had switched places with her.

“That’s a shame,” the body thief said while she ran a finger along Ashlynn’s plastic face. “I can hear your thoughts. I might have to throw you out. I can’t have you screaming at me while I live your life.”

“Who are you? How did you do this?”

An evil smile stretched over Ashlynn’s face. “I’ve been stuck in that doll body of yours for way too long. You’ve had it in your family for years, but you’ve never replaced it. That was a big mistake. Your grandmother was my biggest crush, but she never liked me. I asked her out multiple times, especially during magic lessons. You know what she did? She put me in that doll body of yours and told nobody. I had a family. I had friends. And now…” Her body did a little dance. “I have this. Being a girl isn’t something I was hoping for, but hey, beggers can’t be choosers.”

Ashlynn couldn’t believe what she was listening to. Deep down, she was hoping that things would somehow reverse themselves. But when she realized that the only way for her to reverse this was to use a spell while her body thief used astral projection, she knew that all hope was lost. She was dealing with a guy who knew magic, and there was no way they were going to give up her body.
