“Well, I don’t know what to tell you,” Doctor Stevenson said with a smile. “Thank you. Thank you for all of this.”

“It’s my pleasure,” Betty slyly said. “I was scared of what had happened to her, but now that this opportunity’s a thing, I’m actually looking forward to it all. I don’t even mind relearning everything.” When Betty found out that Laila had passed away in her old body, she was initially distraught. The thought of actually avoiding death was one thing, but letting another person take her place made her feel guilty for wanting to keep her body forever. She remembered how she had screamed and the way her anxiety overwhelmed her body. Laila must have been terrified of what was happening, and the thought of the young woman being alone through it all made Betty incredibly sad.

But now, after spending two days with the news that Laila had died from a stroke, she was overjoyed. She was flooded with excitement as she signed the papers that would give her permanent ownership of a brand new body. The policy involved making sure that the swap had happened contractually, but it was only done on paper. In reality, the facility didn’t want to face lawsuits related to a death before the transfer was finalized. It was a legal thing, and Betty was more than happy to cover for the company that allowed this to happen.

It was also too late to even switch their minds back. Laila had been gone for too long, and Betty would’ve died too if they tried to transfer a dead body’s soul back inside of her. So, they decided to keep things the way they were to help avoid any lawsuits. She was finally young again and had a permanent second chance at life.

As she signed her new name, Laila, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and nervousness. She was taking on a new identity, one that was full of possibilities and opportunities. She didn’t know everything about Laila, but the girl was incredibly shy and kept to herself. Nobody was going to notice her personality changing, and Betty had a funny feeling that Arianna wasn’t going to point out differences in her attitude and values.

Arianna had actually been very fun to be around. She was arguably the one person who could calm Betty down when she initially found out about her old body’s death. She was comforting and reassuring, and going out with her to eat or shop around made Betty realize that she had found a new friend.

And as she sat up from her seat, Betty couldn't help but feel a newfound confidence. She felt as though a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders. She left the facility with a spring in her step. She was finally living life to the fullest and she was happy to be young again. Betty, now Laila, walked down the street, ready to make adjustments and make the most of her second chance at life.
