I'm not a pilot, just an ordinary member of the self-loading cargo brigade (albeit with a son who has had military pilot training - fixed-wing and helicopter). I do so perhaps three or four times a year and have to endure a 14-hour flight to visit family in South-East Asia. For me, the hours that a pilot accumulates, sitting there in the cruise, with the autopilot doing the work, count for relatively little as compared to the minutes accumulated during take-off and landing. What is important to me is the pilot's attitude, aptitude, ability and competence. Yes, time flying a real aeroplane is important, but what I would would deem important is their behaviour when faced with an emergency, which I would hope rarely actually happens in flight. I would want to know that the training programme requires that they have been put through the stress of handling a variety of emergencies in the simulator - and that they have successfully handled those emergencies.

Great work Petter! 🌻 Please keep up this passionate argument! If there is any one person in the educated aviation world, it is you who should mold the lead towards those improvements necessary. Those criteria based on genuine statics embracing the ongoing evolutionary aviation forum for pilots. Those awesome individuals who work and operatetogether the world over for a better, healthier, safer and wholesome flying environment for all nations. That’s simply huge! You have my vote! Cheryl 🌻
