Hi everyone,

Today we are sharing an exciting new format with you ahead of its full launch on Thursday. This so-called 'supercut' is a compilation video that brings together the best of Mentour Pilot along with new updated information wherever available.

You may be familiar with some of the content but the idea is to present it in a feature-length style that drives even more impact by tying together concepts across some of the most infamous flights in aviation history.

It's important to note that this is not replacing the usual Mentour Pilot content, but rather is an additional video for you to sit back and enjoy. The next regular Mentour Pilot video will be launching this coming Sunday, but of course you'll be the first to see that one too.

We'd love to hear your feedback on this one!

Many thanks,

//Petter

The Most Infamous Flights In Aviation History

Flight is one of the safest forms of travel. Of course accidents happen but learning from aviation incidents is a big part of why planes are getting safer all the time. Helping people understand this process is a huge part of why Mentour Pilot exists. In today's supercut, we revisit some of the world's most infamous aviation incidents and analyse how, tragic as were, they forced the aviation industry to move towards a safer future. I was an Air Traffic Controller (and active Flight Instructor) when the Tenerife accident occurred. If there is one ATC verbiage that is clearly understood, it is "Cleared for Takeoff". If there is any doubt, you don't go. (especially if you can't see the runway is clear). I learned a lot from this excellent video, nonetheless, the KLM Capt was in a hurry and caused this accident by disregarding a well established aviation rule.

Re Malaysia 270, sounds like there is little chance that, with the figure 8 pattern before putting it in the ocean, the pilot(s) could have been looking for a ship to meet up with. Far fetched but everything about this is so odd. Is there a secret way for the cabin crew to get into the cockpit in case of both pilots incapacitation or, like this, completely out of spec behavior? I know you can't answer. Is there any way the Flight Data Recorder and/or Cockpit Voice Recorder could have been running near the end of the flight?
