This is something I've been meaning to tinker with for a good while now. I had a bit of a "you better stop and think" moment in the shop today, and decided to spend some time tinkering with the upcoming storyline.

That wasn't going well either, and for some reason this idea popped to the forefront again.

The story here being that more and more of you are surfing and reading on a phone or tablet these days. Personally, I can't do without my big dual monitors, but then, I'm a certified antique these days. :)

For those of you that use phones, would a vertical format like this work better? Same art, same layout, slightly higher resolution, even.

I'd have to launch a specific page for it, and we'd need to tweak the site operation, but that's all doable. Or, let's just say I can probably convince somebody to do it for me. :)

Let me know- and be honest. It'll add a little extra work for me, to generate two layouts, but once the art is done, plunking it into the two different templates wouldn't add that much time.

(This would be in addition to, of course, not in place of, just to be clear. :) )

I normally use either a desktop or a laptop. If I'm on my phone, I save comic reading until I get back to a desk with a desktop or laptop.

I couldn't go without at least two monitors anymore, my normal setup has three and it's a godsend for work and otherwise. Would please ask that the standard layout please does stay for for all those not on mobile devices, but that layout looks like it would be good for those that do use them

Horizontal works for the books - desktop as well. Have seen some Artists doing a dual publish of their normal SHAPE plus a panel by panel for phone reading. Guigar and Dave Kellett for example.

Speaking for myself, I am format-agnostic - I am quite happy with panels appearing either vertically on my PC monitor or horizontally, as the site demands. However, I suggest you definitely look in to @Stefan Schmiedl's suggestion, because *if* you can get somebody talented to create the HTML5 to do it, an auto-format would save you several extra production processes and make the whole update system easier and less prone to glitching.

I rarely read comics on my tablet and almost never on my phone. Primary is one of my four desktop monitors. I am fine with keeping it as it is currently, especially if it adds to your workload.

I turn my phone sideways for comics. I think if you offered a vertical format I'd still use the original, all the rest of my comics read that way, why flip my phone back for just one?

Mike

I like the classic style, but I understand the utility of the vertical format in today's smart phone world.

I read the comic on my pocket telephone from time to time but have never felt the need for a vertical strip. I can zoom in. Vertical might make things a bit easier, but I prefer to read on a proper computer if possible. Must admit, when you said you were going to try something new, you meant you were going to post the audio recordings.

Tiger in man's clothing

I read it on my phone while in the hospital and it looks good, and it perked up my spirits.
