JUNE ART CHALLENGE (Patreon)

For those new to this: art challenges are something I've been doing on our Discord group for a while now, but as I appreciate that not everyone is in or checks often into the server, I believe it's about time I also start posting them to Patreon.

Art challenges are a casual way for everyone to get involved in doing something creative, with no pressure or need to do a perfect job. It's not a contest or competition- everyone is welcome and all patrons receive the same rewards. Furthermore, it's not just open to artists, but to writers, video editors, sculptors or anyone with two hands and a creative thought in mind. So without further ado, here's June's Challenge:

This month's theme will be "Proud"

I'll be direct about this one: this month's theme challenges you to celebrate the great, vast diversity that makes us who we are- as individuals and as a society.

One look through any of your screens will show you the lengths that some collectives will go through to ensure that those who are not like them stay discriminated, marginalised, mistreated, unrepresented and unheard. They will frame it in tradition or cultural stability designed by them, for them, while strangling out the voices that challenge this status quo by simply wishing their lives to be as valid.

For this month, I want you to lift those voices- with your art, your writing, your photography, your sculpting, video editing; with anything you can do with your own two hands. Give a platform, however small, to people of color, LGBTQ+, minorities, differently abled people or anyone who still has to fight for their basic human rights.

Every bolt of lightning in a thunderstorm makes a sound, so regardless of your skill level or contribution: don't stay silent.

So how do I participate?

This challenge is open to ALL SKILLS and MEDIA: drawing, writing, photobashing, sculpting, photography, composition, singing, etc...

The usual rules apply, such as:

• The work must be created specifically for the challenge
• It must be obvious that enough time and effort was put into the entry
• Along with your entry, you must explain your reasoning in applying the theme to your piece

Where do I post my WIPs?

If you're in the Discord: You may post the WIPs of your work in #art-talk just to share and #art-feedback for critique. Once the image is complete, please post it in #art-challenge.

If you're not in the Discord: you can post them to the comments or DM me here on Patreon.
