Finally checking out sexy Dylan O'Brien in The Lord of the Flies on steroids!!  In seriousness tho, while this had some definite YA movie tropes, it packs a good cast & a lot of vigor behind the camera.  What'd y'all think of this one??

The Maze Runner - WATCH ALONG

The Maze Runner Trilogy is my favorite YA adaptation from the earlier craze of adapting a bunch of YA books to screen (Hunger Games, Divergent, The 5th Wave, etc.) because The Maze Runner Trilogy also feels like a gateway sci-fi action blockbuster that can introduce younger audiences to tighter subgenres for film greats like Akira, Mad Max and Dredd. Plus, I love that Wes Ball refused the studio's want to split The Death Cure into 2 parts.

Yes!! Love that you're reacting to this, The Maze Runner series is one of my favourites! The books definitely explain a bunch more as you read through Thomas' thought processes and memories, also the characters are more fleshed out so you fully understand Gally's thoughts and fears and why he is like he is. I for sure cried when Chuck died in the book too. That being said I really love these movies and can't wait to hear your thoughts in the rest of the trilogy!

I spoke to James Dashner when he came to Australia, he said that it was the highest complement to his writing that people were so attached to Chuck. He had no remorse for making us cry while reading his books.
