I think Jodie is great as the Doctor, and she has a few extremely excellent episodes! The writing as a whole for her run does suffer though unfortunately. I wish she had been given better stories.

Murray Gold also uses the tracks and some leitmotifs from The majestic tale(Elevens theme), Doomsday (the song that plays when rose enters the tardis and also when she is trapped in the other universe), All the strange creatures (played prominently in the RTD era starting in S3), and the regeneration theme being the Shepherds Boy (the song that played while the Doctor is breaking through the wall in the confession dial)

I saw this episode in theatesrs! It was awesome!

Also didn’t mention it in the facts but the ring falling off Jodie’s hand in the regeneration is peters wedding ring, he refused to take it off during filming throughout his tenure and so it became a part of his outfit.

And yeah I’ve already explained how much this episode means to me via messages and also on the discord, so pleased you dug it too

...I didn't really like the writing for the new doctor, but there are a few episodes that I did love and I do love quite a few new characters. I really loved the last season. Looking forward to your guys' opinions ^___^

A lovely send-off for my current fav Doctor. Not sure atm if I'll stay on board for the coming series. I have only proceeded with a select few reactors and in my view, some episodes have only gotten mildly better on a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th watch. I've tried so hard to appreciate all that's great about the era. The show is all about change, you have to be on board with that from the first Christmas special. If that's where you started. I have had zero issues with The Doctor being played by Jodie ever. Or the topics and ideas that have been chosen. I have only ever experienced frustration about a litany of mediocrity in between a few episodes that had such promise only to tank in that final act. The overall tone feels ill at ease with itself. The overarching identity feels ill-defined and any purposeful direction seems muddled with confusing elements that appear to conflict with established events and character traits. I just couldn't appreciate it like I used to. It's not terrible but far less enjoyable in too many ways. Maybe I'll stay long-term for the highlights, I'm not sure yet.

Capaldi's seasons were perfect for me and (imo) a lovely journey for the Doctor - from his initially stern eyebrows, through all the epic monologues, to the friendly hair and so much kindness. Plus Clara. Because. And Missy. Totally my favorite seasons and my favorite Doctor. Regenerations are always a process, but I only struggled to continue twice - with Five (sorry Six) and Capaldi (sorry Jodie). But when the little girls in my life wanted to dress up as Jodie so *they* could be the Doctor for Halloween... something special clicked. Like the Master said, “Is the future going to be all girl?” Capaldi, “We can only hope.” I'm glad I finally caught up on all of Jodie's episodes. And I ended up really enjoying one of the companions and Jodie's acting.

Jodie as the Doctor, imo, was really good. The writing was where it was lacking, unfortunately. By the end of her time, she really came into the role though. I can't think of any regeneration I didn't, at the very least, tear up at, and this episode is no exception.

I’m hesitant on you guys seeing our takes on Jodie’s era since we have the benefit of hindsight. I truly want you guys to go into everything open minded and I’ll feel more inclined to share my thoughts as you guys get familiar with it!

Rosie Batey(DarthYoda066)

That’s me too, I feel like it’s a lot more fair to go in with an open mind rather than with a lot of opinions already preconceived, which goes for all eras but very much for 13s, like I love her era (admittedly season 12 and 13 are much better than 11 for me) but there’s still bits I appreciate about it

Rosie Batey(DarthYoda066)

Other one not mentioned was 12 starts his era telling clara “I don’t think I’m a hugging person anymore” and as the seasons go on he gets more comfortable which concludes with him fully embracing Bill and Nardole at the end of this episode

It feels very sad to finally say goodbye to the Peter Capaldi era of Doctor Who. By far my favorite era, and by far the era I miss most looking back. Glad you guys enjoyed it, and interested to see how you feel about the Jodie era.
