One of my favourite episodes, everything is firing on all cylinders. I always took that moment in the car between Shawn and Gus as after everything Shawn had been through that day and even though he was on a date he really just needed his best friend by his side.

Oh yea finally!! Been waiting for this one since we started this journey! Let's get into the ep: about the last thing you said with the subplot not fitting with the main one, compared to the last ep., this one worked better, it sets up a sense of urgency like "this case will definatelly end before tonight's date" and also was used to prolong the Shawn-Juliet "will they-won't they" story in a very mature matter, this "will they-won't they" storylines can get really dragged out and overly dramaticized, but I think Psych did a great job teasing it and even this last scene when it seemed like it might finally happen, they choose to prolong it, as it happens with this types of stories, but again, they did it in a very smart matter, becuse Abigail is not just any chick that Shawn dated, she is as Juliet puts it "the one that got away", so it made sense for Shawn to choose Abigail, to try and givit a shot, even though he was after Juliet for the last 2 years or so. And yes John, this was the biggest moment thus far in this storyline, but you asked if there was another big moment like this, may I remind you of the last scene from the bounty hunters ep, from S2, when Juliet was alone at SBPD and Shawn walks in and they proceed to..."talk real close to eachother", that was another sweet moment. So yeah, I mean this entire ep. was class! the guest stars like you said were great, and even Lassiter steped up when he figured out the clue that led them to Madeleine's hotel, And let's give a shout to Mel Damski, one of the executive producers and regular directors, for creating and maintaining the suspense for a usually funny and joyish show! 🍍 Well it was a great streak! what, 7 eps in a row? Way better than I was at 1st or 2nd watch, let me tell you that.😂 The pineapple was a plastic one on Abigail's desk at the kindergarten. Fun tidbits: Jimmi Simpson played Mike Mageau in the movie Zodiac that Shawn referenced, At the beginning of the ep. Shawn refers to himself as Judd Nelson, who played John Bender in The Breakfast Club along side Ally Sheedy who played Allison Reynolds, that's a nice comparison giving the theme of this ep. And in the scene with the rat, Gus breaks out dancing like MJ, one of the first MJ solos was called "Ben" which is about a pet rat...and the rat's name in the ep. was Ben!

Man, what to even say about this episode that hasn't been said a thousand times already? It's just a really great episode of television. Some stray observations that i love: *One of the weaker elements of the first season for me was how Shawn was written like what a thirteen year old would think is cool. "Oh, he rides a motorcycle and is always pulling the hot babes!" So I dig that the the start of the episode keeps the continuity of Shawn being an incorrigible flirt, except that Gus is rightly rolling his eyes at him. *Abigail is introduced in a Breakfast Club reference, Abigail comes back in the episode where Ally Sheedy is the villain. Bookends! *Oof, I had a sinking pit in my stomach the first time I watched this every time someone mentioned Shawn's date. Especially when Yang mentioned it, I was SURE we were going to find Abigail dead in her car or something. *I love that the last reveal isn't some mindblowing insight on the case, but just a really, really unsettling realization that you never know who is watching you. *Gus's "who wants some pancakes. Whipped butter, maple syrup... WHAT?!" was my ringtone for a full year. Something about Dule's reading of that line fucking kills me.
