I honestly love this episode! It's definitely grown on me a lot

I always thought this episode was meant for ppl to be on Rory’s side, that’s why he’s one of my favs. Amy was doing wrong, but it does get resolved and to me, you realize why she acts the way she does, eventually.

This is a Whithouse episode that I don't particularly enjoy for many of the reasons Greg brought up. Thankfully his future episodes are written much better imo. He also wrote School Reunion (the episode with Sarah Jane and Anthony Head), which I felt was also much stronger than this.

I’d argue second worst but that’s likely down to personal taste etc but I guess we shall see which one they prefer out of this one and an episode later on.

I suppose my real question is which do you prefer out of this episode and Love and monsters (the one with the green alien that absorbed people in season 2) cos this one is usually a mixed bag and the other is pretty universally hated for the most part but you seemed to like that episode more than this one?

Yeah I think you are meant to be on Rory's side. That being said, about the only real part of this episode I love is when Rory is challenging The Doctor on how he endangers those around him. Some of parts of Matt's performance are amusing and entertaining. But on the whole, a low rated episode for me story wise.

Got to agree with your comments and criticisms on this one. You pretty much nailed it. The only thing I would disagree with is Rory’s line about the Doctor getting people to run to danger. That’s arsy versy. The Doctor chooses companions he likes, and one of the characteristics he most likes is fearlessness (which is why he instantly refused to bring Mickey along). He’s not a tour guide shepherding his charges around. He’s travelling and wants a companion who will be pro active. He gets involved in things. If his companion doesn’t want to do that alongside him, he’s not interested in having them with him and won’t invite them in the first place.

I will be honest, skipped past multiple parts of this ep, for same reason as you would. lose interest, great concept, but not great execution. I mainly have certain parts of this ep I like to watch, which concist of seeing the relationships between Doc, Amy and Rory develop
