Tenant was my doctor growing up and as much as I grow to love Matt smith tenants take on the role will forever be my favorite. Such an incredible actor that deserves more roles in the business

Goodbye 10. You will be remembered and the story will go on. The last few episodes have focused The Doctor running away from responsibility and being alone. I think as The Doctor is regenerating he realizes that he shouldn’t be alone and visits his friends one last time. His regeneration alone in the TARDIS is extra sad because he brought his isolation upon himself and he has no one like Rose to comfort him when he changes.

You've arrived at my favourite Doctor! As you guys watch week to week, it's likely it'll take a while for him to grow on you, and that's cool. I'm sure you guys will give him a fair shake, but getting over Tennant has proven to be pretty tricky for many - especially with no time to properly process his leaving.

As to the Donna scene, I believe the Doctor is not looking at Donna but at the wedding itself. Implying his own family.

Re the mysterious woman, my own theory is because the camera focuses on Donna and then Donna's mother, it sort of implies that the mysterious woman has the same type of familial relationship to the Doctor (daughter > mother, son > mother) but who knows

Notice how Wilf offers the Doctor the gun 4 times, foreshadowing his four knocks at the end. Also I love the fact that they gave a nod towards the original actor who had passed that played Donnas dad in “the runaway bride” with the idea that the Doctor went back in time to see him and also that he is the one who bought the lottery ticket that will likely have won Donna and her family a large sum of money so that even if he’s no longer with them he still has made sure that they are looked after.

Also interestingly Wilfreds last name is Mott, Mott is the Canaanite God of Death, so whether it’s intentional or not it can be seen as the Doctor is looking at and conversing with his Death whenever he is talking with Wilf.

And although I’m sad our time with Ten is over, I know you are gonna love Eleven 👌 Geronimooooooooooo

I love that this is out for Tennant's 50th birthday. I got to sob along as we end our time with 10. While 10 is my Doctor, some of my favorite episodes are with 11. Geronimo!

Also, I've noticed your confusion about the regeneration and why it's treated like death. It was explained in the previous episode, in a conversation with Wilfred. He asks the Doctor about it, suggesting he can't die, just change. And the Doctor replies: "Even if I change, it still feels like dying. Everything I am dies. Some new man goes sauntering away... and Im dead."

On a side note, the “Avengers” movies have made reference to “Doctor Who”, with Tony Stark “reversing the polarity” during the first movie, the TARDIS appearing in the background of an action sequence in “Age of Ultron”, and Tom Holland’s final words in “Infinity War” mirroring Tennant’s final words of “I don’t want to go”.

I think a reason for Tennant's regeneration being more emotional than Eccleston's is that this was also the Russell T Davies' final episode before Steven Moffat took over as show runner so it was also a goodbye to his era of the show.

11 years on and every single time I end up welling up. Here's to Tennant, and how bloody marvellous his performance was.

Great reaction and discussion! Strong agree on David Tennant and Bernard Cribbins scenes together, they were always incredible. I'm really glad they had him back for these eps. On Tennant's exit being treated so differently to Eccelston's - I think it was also a lot to do with the fact that it was RTD & Julie Gardner leaving too, so it was a real end-of-an-era feeling. And it had been 4 years with this Doctor, and DW had become this massive hit in the meantime - it was a little Beatle-mania-ish at that point! This ending felt like such a huge deal at the time...I think they tried to make it feel more tragic than it was by having the Doctor describe regeneration as feeling like dying in the previous ep. And to be fair, when he realises Wilf is stuck in the box, and genuinely believes he's going to die to get him out, that moment of rage and frustration he has is SO powerful. But once he survives that, and knows he's going to regenerate, the rest of it feels a teeny bit overdramatic and a bit self-indulgent to me now. But god help me, I love it anyway. 😆 I *think* with the slooow regeneration, the idea was that the radiation was just killing him more slowly than, say a bullet (...or, ya know, a fall from a great height 🙃) FWIW, I also thought when I first saw this that the look to Donna was supposed to be implying that the mysterious woman was somehow Donna. But that doesn't seem to make sense...looking at it now, I wonder if the fact that he's looking past Donna's mother to her is supposed to imply that it is in fact his own mother he's thinking about.. I dunno, it's a weird moment. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd highly recommend watching the tribute David Tennant, Catherine Tate, and John Barrowman did for RTD and Julie G for the wrap party that year. It's DELIGHTFUL. https://youtu.be/giaMRyn47Xg Can't wait to see what you guys think of Matt Smith's run!

Interesting tidbit, Sinead Keenan (the woman who played the female green alien) was also a character in the UK version of the TV show "Being Human". She played a werewolf.
