Welcome to season 7 guys. Where the writing and characters aren’t very thought out. I can only think of one reason why the witches weren’t killed and it’s not even a in universe one. I think they maybe wanted to leave the door open for them to return if the episode did great (you know buffy stars and such) but I don’t think it did. My only theory is Dean is now overcompensating for what he did by not going straight to killing But that still doesn’t really make sense for sam to let them go either. Then it maybe goes back to what I said about him just not trusting sam’s judgement but he trusts his own so there’s that

After watching you guys react to this episode, I realized how many issues with it I missed. When I first got into the show I went on a major binge, and with this episode I was happy to see the show subvert a lot of the formula the show had become known for. But after hearing you talk through the different elements, I realized how jam packed it is and how complicated the writing was, thus causing many inconsistencies. Season 7 was probably the hardest season for me to get through. I like a lot of the changes in humor flavor, but Dean's depression causes a lot of problems that become tedious. And the lack of Cas is a heavy weight.
