Hey, guys!

So there are a lot of folks out there who can explain the cultural & historical significance of June the 19th (1865) better than we can, but learning about the day more-clearly over the past couple years, I thought I'd just take a moment to vocalize our support & encourage you guys to take some action on your own as well.  (If you're curious about the Day, here's a basic breakdown:  https://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm

There's a lot out there worth fighting for, but there are also a lot of folks & organizations out there worth discovering, amplifying, supporting, and uplifting!  So, whether it's supporting your favorite black artists/creators, finding more-diverse & informed ways spending your money, or just continuing to educate yourself, there are many ways to take part & show your support for black communities & folx of color today.

Also, if you're so inclined -- 46 out of 50 states acknowledge Juneteenth in some capacity, but if you'd like to see this become a nationally-recognized holiday, here's a petition link y'all can check out:  https://www.change.org/p/united-states-congress-make-juneteenth-a-national-holiday-in-2020?use_react=false

Much love, peeps!  And feel free to fill the comments with more of your resources, recommendations, and voices!

Happy Juneteenth everyone!! I found out today that many of Angela Davis speeches are on Spotify. She is at the port of Oakland protest today. Also there is a free PDF of her book 'Are prisons obsolete' online. I am half way through the book and it's been educational. so i though i should share. https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/angela-y-davis-are-prisons-obsolete.pdf
