Kurapika brought a shovel to the fight

nen chart show your nen proficiency with each type. Anyone that can use nen can use any category of nen except for specialist but the closer to their main type the easier it will be for them to use said technique. Kurapika is a conjurer normaly so his proficiency stats are conjurer 100% specialist 0% Transmutation 80% Manipulation 60% Enhancement 60% Emission 40%. When he has his scarlet eyes out he becomes a specialist who has an ability called Emperor Time. This lets him have 100% proficiency with all types of nen. For example if he decides to use a enhancer ability normally he could only use it at 60% with emperor time activated he can use that ability at 100%. Kurapika still needs to learn and train with the individual abilities. Also it looks like being in emporer time mode is draining on him.

HxH fight especially going forward are alot about strategy and figuring out the other persons nen ability. So there will be alot of monologueing. Its not all about my Ki blasts are stronger than yours. At a certain point they will stop explaining certain commonly used nen abilities like In and Gyo, So take note and study up. Also I feel the main reason Kurapika was able to beat Uvo so easily was because of combination good strategy, Uvo overconfidence, Emporer Time and his contract.

i think its the best animated episode of hxh so far. While Gon vs Hisoka was just as good , this fight lasted whole episode and the animation fluidity was really nice to see. I also def agree about Kurapika falling into darkness more and more , especially in this ep where you can see how cold and calculated he was , to the point that you can almost feel sorry for the bad guy Uvogin. I think its a really good contrast and exploration of revenge and how it impacts everyone differently . I also totally agree that Gon and Killua stuff is used to ease up on intensity and violence , since its still a kids show lol. So the anime needs to balance it out, but at the same time its another good contrast between Kurapikas world and Gon's at the moment. I personally consider this episode mid arc finale , just due to Kurapikas storyline kinda peaking in this one ep , despite being self contained . I also really like how brutal it got at the end , you can really see the impact on the body without nen and how its all one and done in one episode , no drawn out battles and or grand entrances . It just felt very intentional about all of it . And I am glad Ryan H explained all the nen stuff with Kurapika. All I can add that Kurapika decided to conjure chains , but to make them more powerful he made a contract/condition with himself to exclusively use for phantom troupe , so it makes that much more powerful at the same time he will die if its used on anyone else . Thats why Uvo keep commenting that he feels theres a specific intent behind those chains . But when Kurapikas eyes turn red , he becomes a specialist that can use all nen types , its basically a god mode for all intents and purposes . Thats why he can use heal, be as strong as master enhancer and use all of that together. Tho as we can see he cant use it for prolonged time , it puts a strain on his own body .

(Vague) spoiler for the manga: I always enjoyed this fight, but like a lot of people, I felt Emperor Time was a little OP. However, the manga makes it clear that there are harsh, permanent consequences to using the ability, even for seconds at a time. When Kurapika says, “You’re wasting my time” to Uvo, he means it. TLDR: A lot of shonen fighting series use the excuse “it takes a toll on your body” for op power-ups. But Togashi actually takes that seriously. Honestly, even for those who’ve seen the whole HxH anime, reading the manga is a bit of a shock.
