I love Jensen singing live! It’s so funny, because when he first started he was so nervous on stage. Eventually he got more comfortable and started taking some risks. You should look for him singing Crazy Love live with Jason Manns (he was playing guitars in the back by the drums) Also, yes, that was Rob Benedict playing guitar! “Chuck” has his own band called Louden Swain and they are phenomenal. They headline the music for the supernatural conventions in the US. This was a pleasure to watch. :) hope to see you guys listening to the spn cast sing more often. Most of them have some good pipes!

Like Amber said, it’s so funny to watch Jensen really embrace preforming at cons and enjoy it because waaay back when, he was so shy and they would have to practically drag him on stage and BEG him to sing. Now you can really tell he loves the ‘rock star’ moments he gets to have at cons lol I can never get over how hashtag blessed we are as a fandom, just talent everywhere! And such an indulgent and truly nice cast. Just in this clip you’ve got Rob (aka chuck) and his awesome band, ICON Mark Sheppard on the second set of drums, Jensen’s awesome voice just ugh. The cons are truly something else I LOVE watching these kinds of videos where y’all get to discover more about these people that we’ve all spent years ‘getting to know’ and enjoy so much, it really feels like watching it for the first time when I watch them with you! Thank you!! :)

Really glad you enjoyed that - as Amber said yes, that's Rob's band Louden Swain. They do a Saturday night concert at every convention, and cast often guest stint (especially as the seasons have progressed and the cast has grown). Jensen has actually recently put out an original album. Like you say, his genre is country/folk/rock, and it has some great stuff on it. I think perhaps Jensen got pushed into performing rather than originally wanting to do it. I think he was just the sort who would kick back with his guitar and sing at home or with his mates. But he's become quite a performer.

sarahzentexas

Haha yes! You should hear him do The Allman Brothers “Whipping Post!”

Michelle Denny

Yes! Whipping Post! I totally agree that would be a great one to watch

Kayla Waters

God, I just love watching Jensen perform <3 and your double take when you realized the lead of LS was ACTUALLY Chuck was priceless XD I'm going to my first SPN con in August here in Denver (hopefully Corona doesn't mess everything up), and one of the things I'm most excited for is the concert :p and yeah, there are a lot more awesome performances I think you'd love, I just need to do a little vetting before I recommend them :)

I remember watching the video of him singing "Wild Mountain Thyme" when he first started singing at cons, and I just kinda melted. Apparently at the time he was sometimes singing it as a lullaby for his baby daughter.

Wow, this was so unexpected! Great to see you're venturing into this! :)

Laura Moore

Thank you so much for this!! Yes Chuck is the Lead singer of a band (an amazing rock singer all though his personality is very similar to Chuck’s XD) One of the drummers is also a cast member (whose character you will meet very soon) and Jason Mann is an actor and musician and one of Jensen’s best friends. They actually put his song in the show for a hot second once 😂 Jensen used to be very shy to sing but fans all knew he could, but for years now Supernatural has done conventions with a band, Rob/Chuck’s band and always have karaoke night and the cast participates, good and bad singers. Now Jensen shows off his singing like this and it’s so freaking good!!

You sir, are awesome! This was a nice treat!! If you ever go down the Jensen live singing rabbit hole, you'll enjoy it, I'm sure. One to absolutely watch IMO is "Dead or Alive" with Jensen and Corey Taylor (Slipknot) in Vegas.

Janet Shearer

So cool to see you react to this. As mentioned above, Whipping Post and singing with Cory Taylor are fantastic. ——— https://youtu.be/UsLAzmHflrU Link that has both performances.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! It was so beautiful watching Jensen's progress towards this level of performance. He has several really good friends who are musicians and singers, and he has always "jammed" with them, but had never done any solos. He preferred providing backup. Those friends were always supportive and encouraging, but jensen was pretty humble and didn't see in himself a performer like them. But it was also shyness, we think. Given how he was when he first started dabbling in singing in public. Used to be he'd only sing amongst friends and family. But once fans found out he had a Voice, they kept begging for him to sing for them. So, finally, he got up the nerve and started doing a little bit here and there. 2015 is when it got Real and he sang for the first time as a solo on stage during the Saturday Night Concert with Louden Swain. And the rest is glorious history. Wais Choice is the video editor who did this video you saw. She does a great job editing these from other videos. I recommend using her. I think you'll find all of his performances. And her videos would have less spoilers in them.

MollyMac

Yes definitely! I reckon the one at VegasCon 2019 is the best version, where he sings S.O.B as well

I remember when Jensen first started singing at cons - he was just strictly doing back-up for Jason and was just far too shy to do much more. It's really been satisfying, seeing how much he's grown as a musician and a singer, and I couldn't have been prouder when he released the first Radio Co. album. He's come a long, long way, and I can't wait to see what's next!

Linn Cecilie Kristoffersen

The one and only convention I have been to. And what a weekend it was :D You say he seem natural and he does, but there are clips from when he started (he was really pushed into singing on a con, the clip is somewhere on YouTube). and he was terrified for a while. But now he seems really comfy, and he is great. And yes,Chuck (rob Benedict) was on guitar, and Crowley (mark shepherd) on drums. Love to see more supernatural convention music for sure :D
