Not sure if ya'll caught our video on this or not - but what do you think of the sequel supposedly being a Cosmic Horror Movie in the vein of Aliens & 2001: A Space Odyssey

i mean, I hope you guys wont hate it. But when MCU says their next movie gonna be so and so but an mcu movie , its usually just the most surface level. The closest we had to something resembling political bourne like movie was winter soldier . But when MCU was marketing Antman as a heist movie . And so on. I wish they would fully commit to respective genres and explore it. But we all know its just gonna be an aesthetical choice , a flavor that tries to differntiate from the rest of mcu stuff . I wish i was wrong , Lol. And I am looking forward to it, since i thought first cap marvel , was one of the blandest mcu movies in a while .

I hope they don't. I really liked the first movie, despite what some people said about it. But I just don't think a horror treatment like Aliens or something like A Space Odyssey is right for this franchise. I wouldn't like it.

I wish I could get excited about Captain Marvel, but I don't like her. The comics that I read were meh...(at least for me). I really didn't like her in the animated Avengers and didn't find the MCU version much better. I'm a huge MCU fan, but honestly she is probably the least compelling character for me. I don't think space horror will fix her personality. *shrug*

Anything will be better than the 1st movie. It's my 2nd least favorite MCU movie. Dark World still wins that. IM3 at least is a Shane Black movie.

Yeah, I've become concerned about this lately as well. I do appreciate the aesthetic incorporation of other genres, but also agree I wish they'd do more to truly commit to them within the actual text of the films. And especially hearing that Dr. Strange 2 got walked back from the original "scary horror movie" reports, I don't reeaaaally trust this rumor, at least not fully. Haven't revisited the first CM since seeing it a couple times in theatres. Definitely not without its charms, but there's some significant stuff to build on. Fingers crossed its an improvement at very least!

Haha yeah, I feel ya. I think we both found a fair amount to appreciate with the first film (having not read much in the way of CM comics), but I do think one of the MAIN focuses next film should be really helping us bond properly with Carol. I'm down for cosmic horror, but yeah.. I think character's the real key.

Oh damn haha. I'm sure you're not alone in that, though 😅 I think for me it'd probably fall somewhere in the middle. One of these days I'll go back and visit Dark World. It's got such a rep now lol, and it's back in the news with Patty Jenkins' comments haha. What would you want to see improved for CM2? Or will you be skipping altogether?

I would like it to follow the overall tone from the first episode. Have more in depth look at what makes her tick - a look at the travels she's taken around the universe and what she's done. Other than just not going too much into horror, I really don't have much to say I guess.

I hope that CM2 focuses more on who she is. It sounds so simple... but practically the whole movie it's her having amnesia. I know that's from thre comics, which I respect... but... I feel like it was a hollow origin. Look at Thanos, Cap, Iron Man. I understood then so well... their motivations, moral fiber... that's why Civil War worked so well. I want more understanding of CAROL. Im sure I'll get it

2021-07-15 04:50:28 Despite the difference in our ranking, I completely agree. Despite enjoying the first, that's easily its weakest element. That's really all I'm hoping for at the end of the day too lol - something that really brings us into & allows us to connect with her.
