It took me a while to get with the program, but I finally started rewatching Gotham a few days ago, so I can catch up and start discussing one of my favorite shows with you. I'm happy you succumbed to peer pressure and, more importantly, that you're having a good time with it. I understand why some prefer the later seasons, but, like you, I enjoyed the show from the onset. I'm thinking these people weren't patient enough to watch the obligatory groundwork be laid, so they dismissed all the storytelling that eventually gave way to the stuff they liked (Season 2+). It really was quite a splendid and natural progression. I'm bummed Gotham is being renewed for only one more half season. I suppose this is better than being unceremoniously canceled, but the show has gotten so good and there's so much more story to tell. Hopefully, The CW will pick it up after that Batwoman announcement... or just anyone, really.

I'm totally with you. These past two episodes yielded some of my favorite interactions between Bruce and Selina. Seeing them bond for the first time and just be normal kids, for once, was really sweet (until, you know, they had to flee for their lives). Light-hearted moments like these were one of the charms of Season 1. Before long, the heavy-hitters will come into their own and cause an even bigger headache for our protagonists (as if they didn't already have enough on their plate).
