2024-05-06 14:54:21 Ooh! And fun fact! Pierce Brosnan has said he didn’t know it was a musical when he put his hand up for it - he just wanted to work with Meryl so bad. I kind of love that.

Because he’s definitely not a singer, but he tried so hard. Edit: and now I’ve reached the end I see you guys did an Andrew and looked up trivia 😂😂 it’s still a fun fact. And Colin Firth is great. So versatile. Nanny McPhee and the Bridget Jones series are great for showing him off.

I’m also putting my musical movie recs here in case you guys miss my comment on YT. Buckle up I LOVE musicals. My musical movie recs: The classics: Singing in the Rain (my fave, Donald O’Connor is perfection), Calamity Jane, Xanadu, Meet me in St Louis, Oklahoma, South Pacific Just in case someone in the group hasn’t seen them: Grease and Grease 2, Les Miserables, Chicago, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Greatest Showman Sister Act 1 and 2 Newer but awesome: Connie and Carla, Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys The Sapphires Dream Girls And Beyoncé was in one called The Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Junior Also I forgot it but somebody else said Moulin Rouge!!

Such a fun watch along!! It's funny you mentioned "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" because my favourite movie that has to do with Greece is "My Life in Ruins" and the lead acress is Nia Vardalos it's a fun RomCom she plays a tour guide trying to find her "Kefi" (her spark for life) highly recommend it if you haven't seen it! 🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️

Omg omg My Life in Ruins is one of my absolute faves!! It’s one of the reasons I went to Greece! I chose a tour that went to every place, including Delphi, and Sparta! I second this recommendation!

Please don’t make us wait too long for part 2🤭it’s great!🤍

Foggy

some musical recs: singing in the rain, tick tick boom (i feel like greg specifically would love this one), la la land, the last five years, rent

zenscience

I am loving these musical Mondays! I agree with the recs: The Greatest Showman, La La Land and Tick Tick Boom.

Dustin Duvall

If you want to give the rejects something more unique, London Road. It's a true crime musical with Olivia Coleman and Tom Hardy

Susan Deans

100% yes to the sequel it’s just as fun and continues the camp feeling from the first!

Jules R

Went and watched this with my mom in the theatre and forsure everyone in there was singing along, you can't not on those bangers! Thanks for reacting and jaming out too, made this reaction a blast!

Connie Stuart

YES YES YES to the sequel and also I highly HIGHLY suggest you check out tick tick boom it's an absolutely stunning movie musical

Tara

John, you asked if other movies have done anything with the fanfare. With Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen’s lead guitarist, Sir Brian May, played the 20th Century opening on his hand made red special electric guitar. That was a lot of fun! I didn’t realize Rosie was played by the same actress who plays Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter. If you want to see Meryl Streep playing a complete opposite character, check out The Devil Wears Prada if you haven’t seen it yet. Moulin Rouge is a great musical with Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman. Also Singing in the Rain, which has been called the greatest musical of all time

thereelrejects

As a big Queen fan, I love that reference...of course it's Sir Dr. Brian May now :D Moulin Rouge is also a banger and a Queen relation given The Show Must Go On is on the soundtrack! - PLD

My Fair Lady is another great classic musical. (I’m rewatching Aaron and Tara’s Anastasia reaction and something Tara said in her discussion at the end jogged my ancient memory)
