When I posted the Patreon poll asking if you’d like to hear “unreleased songs” which have technically been released by the artists I wrote them with, your reaction was so incredibly supportive. Thank you for being interested in hearing my versions of these songs! It really meant a lot to me.

Here’s the first of the sort…

I wrote this song in 2014 with my dear friend Mary Bragg. It’s about not settling for a relationship that doesn’t make you feel alive. After we wrote it, it was constantly stuck in my head but it didn't feel like it belonged on the next album I was making (Weightless). It's been a long time, but I really enjoyed re-learning this one and recording it for you. Hope you enjoy!

To my delight, Mary connected with this song enough to record her version of it. She recorded ‘Wildfire’ on her album 'Lucky Strike' in 2017. Here’s what Mary had to say in the press when she released this song:

"When this got written, I had been spending a lot of time on metaphor writing, and in the beautifully inexplicable way that life lines up with song ideas, I happened to have this title on deck when my co-writer Liz Longley came over and, well, she had some fresh fodder for the song. On my back porch in the sun, we talked and wrote and talked and wrote and talked some more about how tough it is, yet how necessary it is to see the end of a relationship that could've been the one, but just wasn't quite it. 'Wildfire' is unconcerned with sugarcoating a reality that's difficult to swallow."

Thank you for listening!! <3
