Unreleased Song #2: Overrated (Patreon)

The bonus song from 'Funeral For My Past'!

In fall of 2017, I wrote this song about how I felt about love at the time. "It's overrated." 

You could say I was jaded. :)

Twelve songs were recorded, mixed & mastered for Funeral For My Past, Overrated included! I wrote this song before almost all the songs on the record. It started the journey of coming to terms with where I was in my life. But this is the only one that I ultimately decided not to include on the final version of the album. Why? 

It's got great energy, the band & the background singers killed it... I love the recording. But after I sat with all of the songs as a collection, I felt that the message of this song clashed with the overarching message of Funeral For My Past. It was obvious to me that "Overrated" was from a different part of my life. I'm not sure everyone agreed with me at the time, but how lucky am I that I'm now an independent artist and I get to call the shots on the music I release? Super lucky. 

As a side... I still stand by my decision. This one works better on it's own! Or, even if someone else recorded it? Can you imagine someone else recording it? Does anyone know if Kelly Clarkson is looking for songs? ;)
