Where the Shadowspan marks the void between planes, the Astral Plane, or more precisely the Astral Sea, is known as the space between the worlds within a plane. Journeying from celestial body to celestial body, one traverses the Astral Sea until their destination is reached. The Astral Sea is a fantastical place where travel between planes is especially facile. The membrane to the Shadow Span and the planes beyond is thin. As on the worlds themselves, it's unsurprising that rich trading posts have formed along key travel routes between worlds. One such place is Dunkelkrone Castle, named after the Gertonian Dynasty that maintained its trading hub here. It features multiple astral docks, a vast marketplace, and lodgings for countless guests. However, the site's lucrativeness does not overshadow its dangers. Portals from other planes often appear, unleashing beasts on the hunt. This time, the well-equipped guards seemed unable to withstand the onslaught. Will you heed Dunkelkrone call for help and fight your way to the rift before something even worse enters this plane?

This castle is a marvelous location for all astral adventures. Its three areas are intentionally versatile. The Astral Port could be a teleportation destination leading to a wizard's hideout, while the grand hall at the center could serve as the antechamber of a throne room or even as a cathedral chamber. The portal could be employed in any city where a portal to the Nine Hells or worse has unexpectedly opened. This battlefield beckons adventurers to slash their way through hordes of monsters from bottom to top, confronting the archdemon at the portal to avert the looming threat.
