Welcome to the first official Wednesday, Ben's Day of the year! Let's take a look around, what's happening in the realm of Beneos.

1. Beneos Battlemaps

With the release of the Scorched City, we've just finished the two-part release of the Molten Court. Both map packs are perfect for turning up the heat (heh) and enable your players to reenact the Duel of the Fates upon the many bridges spanning the mighty lava rivers. If you are reading those, you've probably checked out the newest release, but here is a look at it in case you haven't.

You can already hear the orchestra.

If you enjoy this design and island-hopping aspect of the battlemap, let us know! We always treasure your input!

Next up: Argynvosthold.
For our next release, you've graciously allowed us to take another look at mighty Argynvosthold and remake the previous release, putting everything we've learned over the years into it. Here is a post detailing the decision process, but you don't need to read all that - just look forward to an epic reimagining of a classic.

PSA: Billing Method Change 07.02.2023
As detailed here, Beneos Battlemaps will switch from "Pay per Pack" to "Pay per Month".  Instead of getting both releases billed separately per month, you just pay once per month. Nothing will change besides that. Again, if you want to read up on in detail, you can do so right here. This is just an all around good thing, and we are really looking forward to finally implementing it.

2. Beneos Tokens
Over at Beneos Tokens, we're as busy as ever to pump out interesting creatures to enrich your world and spice up your encounters. While our last few releases of December were aimed at mid-tier parties, we've pulled the brakes a bit and doing a series of low CR creatures, like this unsettling lobster monstrosity, for example.

Then being maybe not as deadly as a Wintergrim does not make them less engaging, for this series of releases aims to show that low level combat does not need to be a boring slug fest. Be it the Gargling Headtaker above, the Faceless below or the incoming Skeletal Sapper - they all pose individual and exciting challenges to your players and make for atmospheric encounters to seamlessly weave into your narrative!

So, if you are currently looking into starting a new campaign, want to run a low level one shot or if you are in search of minions for your tougher battles - look no further and keep your eyes peeled!

We've also released our first Token Pack - The Goblin Raiding Rabble!

You can buy this set of Tokens, containing the Tokens and a PDF with all their stats, some lore and nice tactical bits, in our new and improved webshop: beneos-battlemaps.de. You don't need to subscribe to our Patreon to buy and integrate this motley crew into your game.

Aren't they the sweetest?

Apart from the weekly releases, we are working on more themed Token Packs and additional reward Tokens for longstanding Patrons.

3. Kickstarter Shout Out

If you are active on Instagram, you probably know the Confused Clerics (@confused_clerics). They post nifty Homebrew magic items or spells accompanied by beautiful original artwork, and now their Kickstarter for high quality item and spell cards is running hot! Swing by their Kickstarter, get taken aback by the artwork, and maybe secure a pledge for yourself. You've got 10 days left, and they are about to smash another stretch goal.
Here is the link if you want to take a peak at their forbidden (not really) treasure trove of arcane goodies!

They work with a lot of different artists and its a cool community project coming together!

4. POLL

It wouldn't be a proper Wednesday Ben's Day if there was no poll, now would it?
Todays poll is about the "Points of Interest Teleporters"  "Multilevel Tokens". They enable us to build those big, interconnecting maps - but if most of you aren't making any use of them currently - let us know.

QUESTION: FOUNDRY TIER SUPPORTER: ARE YOU ACTIVELY USING POINT OF INTEREST TELEPORTERS AND / OR Multi-Level Tokens?

Thanks for your feedback and your ongoing support!

Can we add an option for "Use alternative for navigating through maps"? IE: I replaced all of mine with Monks tile triggers to make it work in combat

BeneosBattlemaps

Hey Jeffrey, we were experimenting with MAT as well. Unfortunately, it is not working for us. The features are great, but it is not possible to make already placed tiles connect with new ones. That would make it impossible to download different releases that are connected, like the Barovia map, and have them connected properly and automatically.

We can't answer both to "yes I use POI and Multi level" ;o)

Jeffrey R

Oh..why? Using MAT and Tagger you could very easily do this

BeneosBattlemaps

as I said, we tested it. We considered using MATT for some weeks but came to the conclusion that is not sufficient for what we want to achieve. If you set MATT up for two maps, for example, and add Map 1 to Release 1 und Map 2 to Release 2, MATT is not able to connect both maps, because they are not added at the same time. MLT can. That is a major difference.

Jeffrey R

If you use Tagger you can do what you are saying - I know because that is what I do today..

BeneosBattlemaps

I am not sure how tagger would be able to do so but I'd apreciate a video or something explaining this workflow. Regardless, this is nothing we can do any time soon of course, because it would be AN INSANE amount of work. But I am always looking for improvements. At the moment I'd rather update MLT to be able to track combats over different maps

Yes to all ❤️

Need an option to say yes to both MLT and POI but if I had my choice I would use MLT and monks active tiles for teleporting

Anonymous

Yes to both, my players LOVE them
