35 minutes?? Wow how the time flies. As always, apologies if I'm a bit babbly!

I'll be uploading these (and a few other vending assets) in a bit here! Gotta go get a few minutes of non-computer time first, though!

ALSO- watch my apeshit shenanigans at 35 seconds in! I just randomly turn off screencasting the letters? I turn them back on soon after. But that's ridiculous.

When he’s doing the emissive nodes for the panels , I can’t see the ‘brown’ node as it’s cut off. What is that node? I’m trying to follow along and got stuck 😂

I could unironically watch this stuff for hours. Don't worry about the vids being too long! 👍

i really love this side of things when it comes to prop modeling, its a really good way to build foreground/background assets for an environment, thanks for the share!

Hands down the thing I miss most about daily life in Japan is vending machines.

At 27:08 I really felt that

Please don't ever apologize for babbeling, this is all 100% solid gold. (Though maybe do a talk show, "beveling while babbeling"?) also, I've apparently been unnecessarily adding thickness to my glass object like a fool. I had no idea you could just use a flat plane and get away with it. Probably causes less noise as well. Thank you for improving my sunday morning :-)

IanHubert

"Beveling and babbeling"- I'd watch that! Also man yeah, glass is crazy confusing. I think if you're doing certain things where refraction is important (like vases or cups), glass having depth is vital, but if it's a single pane like a window I think (hope??) a mix of a transparent/glossy on a single plane works well enough in most cases. Maybe I'll check my mind as computers get faster, though??

Always enjoy watching your videos, whether they're 35 minutes long or a 1 minute Lazy Tutorial!

when i try to follow along you keep editing and the picture stays put on the vending machine but my picture is movin as i edit how do i stop this

IanHubert

Ah! After you add an edge loop a little window should appear in the bottom left of the view port. Expand it and check "correct UVs". Does that fix it??

ah i knew thats what i needed to click but couldn't figure out where it was thanks

How did the cans do the thing where they look different when you duplicated it?

Anonymous

how did you make that face loop selection at 7:43. being new to blender, its hard to follow without knowing the shortcuts

Anonymous

Dude, aside from being a great and cynical narrator, you are an absolute UNIT on modeling. You are changing my whole perspective on how to get the down and dirty finished. Thank you

Hey Charles, I started with this: - https://www.blenderguru.com/articles/free-blender-keyboard-shortcut-pdf Hope it helps

I know I'm a bit late to the party (however I joined your Patreon a couple of days ago only), but instead of using a mix of those shaders, I think you could have used a Principled BSDF with the transmission turned all the way up no?

Hi Charles, this is not the ideal video to watch being new to Blender so don't get frustrated if you are unable to follow. It's more like watching Picasso, on steroids. Modeling a vending machine. While shouting to himself : 'Words mean things Ian!'...

i think probably because i am at the lowest tier, i need to upgrade my tier!!

I'm super late to answer this for you but figured why not, the video before this one on his tutorial feed actually goes into it! Just sort by oldest to newest and ctrl-F "Auto-gen"
