It is Very important that you go back and watch the post credit scene after season 5 episode 1 before you watch the one after episode 8 and especially before you watch the season 5 finale

We saw Abraham pull off his dogtags after he saw his family had been killed. He was military. I think him pulling off the tags was his way of expressing he didn't feel worthy of it if he couldn't protect his own family.
