I got back from a scuba diving vacation last night, so now it's back to work! My two big projects right now are preparing for Midnight Brutality, and starting to write the text for a coffee table type book on US World War Two small arms. Beyond that, I've got a bunch of modern stuff in to film right now. Material often comes and goes in waves, and with SHOT Show last month I found a bunch of cool new products that I think are worth covering. From the Hi-Point 10mm to Carbon Research ultralight silencers, it's all showing up about now to work with...

I have been collecting “part kits” of the blowbacks for a while as an engineering learning exercise. Interesting to see the progression through the years, Astra, the VP-70, the old Raven and Lorcin and others, now Hi-Point. Looking forward to what you have for us here!

Terry

Why do think the market is good for a WWII US small arms book? I would think there have already been a number of them.

'Over seggsed, over paid, and over here.' Yikes. Sounds familiar... oof. US has the best Mil in the world for many reasons, but these always seem to be our issues in non-combat areas overseas, SMH

Just speaking from my time in the 2000 decade in Korea. Under Eisenhower that's new, that's funny

How do you spell the name of the island you visited?

According to a link on Hi-Point's site there are 71(ish) variations

I look forward to your book on U.S. WWII small arms. I have read a lot of books on that subject and would like to read your take on them.

The SKS would be REALLY cool if you also got to shoot some rifle grenades (bonus points if they're live grenades rather than dummy/practice grenades) using the built in grenade launcher they put on their SKS's.

HiPoint: occupying the exact opposite end of the spectrum in guns as Harley-Davidson does in motorcycles by using the same marketing/design philosophy: make one product in a whole boatload of minor variations!

Bruce Brodnax

That only applies to the Yugoslav variant; nobody else had built-in GLs; this is also why you can't have an unaltered one here behind the Granola Curtain... 🙄😖👿

Made more fitting because the 'potatopotatopotato' of a Harley is the result of economic crudity to begin with

Brett Baker

@Terence Tidler Ian's book will be accurate, unlike many coffee table books.

Brett Baker

So will the Hi-Point videos be the start of more coverage of the Ohio arms industry and its history?

"Ended up going home with..." LOL Diverse bonus for getting famous Ian, enjoy your drinks!!!

Even the carbines are the same basic design that is clearly related to the pistols.

2023-03-01 18:16:21 During WW2 the US had a number of these little known bases in the Caribbean & S America. This includes a seaplane base in the Galapagos, used to protect the Canal and convoy routes from subs, etc

Excited to hear you are working on a WWII US Small Arms book. I remember hearing a while back that you were working on a Finnish small arms book, is this still coming?

Glad you enjoyed your holiday! I could use some scuba diving. I found this video yesterday. Knowing your affection for the PK, you might find this one quite interesting. It appears that the manufacturer is trying to gain some interest within the Polish military. This shouldn't be too difficult given what's happening in our neighbourhood... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-MG7myjy_o
