Here we go! New episode on project Chicago!
After a couple of bad Alpina H1 engines, I ended up buying a stock N62B44 engine and made some interesting discoveries. You'll have to watch and see, but we have a solid plan on how to fix it!
This time around, I'm considering coating the pistons - https://www.dupont.com/products/molykote-pa-744-anti-friction-coating.html
There are several companies in Germany that do this, not that expensive and I've read some very, very good things about this coating. I can also purchase the stuff from the link above and for around 100 euros including needed materials, I can do it myself.
I bought Mutitoyo micrometers and have a bore gauge coming too, so I'll be able to check the clearances myself as well.
Would love to know if anyone here has experience with piston coatings!
