Oh, yes! It's very much alive and kicking!
More details will follow in the video, but this car is a massive surprise.

I'm stuck waiting on parts before I can finish the video. The middle silencer has a hole in it and I ordered a new one 5 days ago. Got it today only to find out they sent a completely wrong exhaust. So I ordered a new one from the dealer and should be here tomorrow.

Also, rear brake lines are collapsed and not letting brake fluid flow, they are special order and coming in a couple of days.

Update on project Chicago -- just paid import duties & tax for the Alpina so that project is only a few weeks away!

Update on the BendPak lifts -- the container from CA finally arrived in the Netherlands, but somehow the 2-post lift wasn't in it. Everything else is there, just not the 2-post lift which is the most important one. This is very frustrating as I've been on lifts since June and I really need the 2-post to start with the big projects, E39 M5 and E31 850i. Not sure how they managed to "misplace" it and how long it will take to actually get it, but let's see.

Update on the vapor blasting cabinet from Vixen -- they finished building the machine a few weeks ago and it went through their final inspection. However, since it's coming from the UK that's no longer part of the EU, the import process is really shitty. Import duty & tax needs to be paid and I also need some EORI number. Normally, I don't need this stupid number but the shipper insists on me providing it. So now I'm in the process with German customs to get one which will take 4-5 weeks to get. Wonderful.

Anyway, that's it for now. I'm editing the material that I already finished filming so hopefully it won't be too long before the video is out. Cheers!

As a UK citizen I feel your pain with regards to importing stuff..I don’t think we realised what bureaucratic joys would come with leaving the EU

Jose Martinez

Thanks for the update Streten, and sorry you’re having so much trouble getting parts and equipment to your new shop. It must be a pain in the ass having to deal with orders from the UK since brexit, I never really saw the point of them leaving since it was in their best intrest to stay but oh well. I hope you get everything straightened out soon so all your projects can get moving. Lots of love from the U.S.!

I’ve been wondering about that vapor blasting cabinet for a while good, news!

Finally! So excited! 🤩😅🤪

Let’s not turn this into a pro EU/pro Brexit debate, chaps. There are plenty of internet threads for that. Let’s just focus on this magnificent car instead, shall we?

Time to remove the head! Take out the pistons, get them to a machine shop! New piston bearings, new crank shaft bearings, new piston rings, hone the cylinders, clean the head, new valve stem seals, new head gasket! New engine mounts! Make that old girl purr!

Can't wait for the interior detailing on this baby.

You'll be surprised how much new chrome strip around the windshield and rear glass will improve the look of the car too.

That's "cool ant" then some ;-) Nice Job!

Very impressed Sreten considering the condition of the coolant and corrosion within the block

Why did you even bother to go with American lifts? You could have gotten one from the same company you got the 4 post lift from in like a week. Unless bendpak sponsored you I don't see any reasoning behind this

m539restorations

Of course they sponsored me. I wrote to Twin Busch first, they said they'll provide one lift for free and the other one I'd need to buy and I'd need to make the whole video about it. Then I wrote to BendPak and they're giving me 3 lifts free of cost plus tire changer and balancer. It's a much better deal and help like that is much welcomed.
