The time has come to revive this turd after 26 years of standstill!  Project Castellón proved to be the most difficult and disgusting car I ever attempted to revive. We have everything you need in this episode, a rabbit, burly manly sounds, varnished fuel, stuff living in the cooling system... Explosions too!

Buckle up for 55 minutes of struggle.

26 Years Of Sitting - What Will It Take To Get it Running? BMW E21 323i - Project Castellón: Part 2

This BMW E21 323i from 1980 has been off the road for at least 26 years and in this episode, it's time to bring it back to life. The time hasn't been kind to 3 series, the engine is an appalling condition, stuff growing in the coolant system, fuel system varnished and then some. Despite all of that, can we get this engine to run again? Well, grab snacks and buckle up for 55 minutes of struggle to find out. Hey Sreten, please wear a mask when using break cleaner as there is a link between it and Alzheimer's. Just fyi.

Notification received! Looking forward to watching this one, seems like it was a struggle and a half!

When I need to use a lot of it, I wear the mask all the time, but for small squirts I don't. I hate brake cleaner, it's pure poison and can cause so many diseases, wish I could do without it...

This was the my favorite episode yet! I eagerly await every one, and I love them all, but there is something about cars that are really far gone!

Roger Wilko, received over and out, can't wait to watch 💪

Great episode. K-Jet is made out to be a lot more complicated than it actually is. Once you get the fuel distributor cleaned moving freely, replace all the vacuum lines and you're probably going to be in good shape. Also, a good set of fuel pressure gauges are a must.

Got the notification as well.

What a great episode!! Maybe if the engine needs rebuilding you can swap in a M20B25 or M21 (B27 in US) crankshaft to get a longer stroke! You’d also want an E30 325i ‘885’ head

Notification received, will be watching tonight!

MichiJim

Notification received in USA. However if your man card weren’t filled to the brim with awesome BMW revivals we’d have to clip off a corner for the girl screams when the car back fired! LOL. Keep up the always great flow of excellent info and production values and I’ll keep watching Sir!

Was wondering why one of the previous videos didn’t alert me. Glad to see it was just a bug. What a wild cooling system. Had a laugh every time something was removed and there was that weird growth underneath. 🤢

Got the notification! Can't wait to get of work to actuallya have time to watch the video as well.

Got the notification on this second one just fine. Hope it is sorted now :)

Got the notification. Never knew such things could grow inside a engine 🤢 😅

All the projects are great and I anticipate updates, but due to the age of the car and the time it spent idle, this e21 coming to life is truly exciting!

As i do not want to say this in the Youtubes... You do not have to worry about the registration, if you got a copy of that paper, you just make it original yourself. I've made this even without a buying contract, just with a handshake. They will not know if that car was registered last in spain, you could bought it here in germany. Our Strassenverkehrsamt usually only needs an email fron the guy you bought it, and as you are coming from IT Deparment, you know how todo that too ;-) If you need help with that, just ping me...

What’s the likely cause of the low compression? Head gasket? Definitely looking forward to seeing how you tackle the whole engine rebuild - guessing it might need specialist tooling etc offsite?

check, got the notification !

Great videos, Streten, as usual. However, it would help if, after a speeded up portion, you paused a little longer to let us see the final result. Example: showing the alignment of the gear marks after replacing the timing belt. Went by too fast to even have time to hit pause! It would help us as viewers trying to learn something new by watching your superb work.

Rocket_Ron

Too many projects? A chronic danger in this type of work is to let new, potentially less interesting, projects intrude into the sequence of earlier ones that have later stages still to come. Case in point: when will you be able to get to the hybrid M70/M73 engine for the 850? That will be a really interesting and rarely seen exercise, of potentially far greater interest than restoring some really old (but classic) much simpler cars. Don't let this one fall off the radar!

Hang in there, Sreten! It's always darkest before the dawn.
