Part 2 of project Skövde!

The E39 M5 has landed in Frankfurt and we take a closer look at it. 9 years of sitting took a toll on this beauty and it's going to take a decent amount of work to bring it back to condition it deserves to be in.

Found some slightly surprising stuff in the oil pan which means we'll be doing one massive job on this engine. Should be fun!

In other news, just purchased another project in Chicago! A friend picked it up an hour ago. I'll make a separate post soon, but it will delightfully surprise you!

Did you buy an E53? :D

You are one hard working, perfectionist, super-mechanic, lucky bastard!! And of course I say it in a good way!!! Maybe you should consider setting up a BMW dealership that only carries jewels such as the E-38 750iL, 740i & 740iL, offering a manual transmission, a few 850i’s of the same era, of course with MT, and E-39 M5’s and E-60 M5 & M6’s!!!!!!! Make it international!!!! If you need strategic thinking, text me or DM @ifixbones@doctor.com!!!!

Says I, hopefully, "How about an E38 Long?"

Sreten, perhaps TUV this one first so you can do road tests? Looks in good enough shape to pass 🙂

Nismo

Great vid as always! Chicago car you say? My hometown! Wonder if I've seen it online lol. Also, you weren't kidding about Germany being so strict. Hassling you about filming, smh.

Nice! Next Part of the M5. Really nice Gift to my 20th Birthday😂👍🏻

Don't worry about taking your time for quality content. We all know our patience is well rewarded.

Damn Streten, you were killing me with the jokes! 🤣. Really looking forward to watching that timing chain change, since you haven’t done one of those and of course the rest of the restoration. Looks like this one is going to keep you busy for a while, but it’ll be worth it buddy. Keep that content coming buddy, were a patient bunch, we’ll wait as long as it takes. See you soon!

What kind of brush did you use for mating surface on the pan? Also, the link for drill brushes does not work for me (but I know where it leads so up to you :)

Hello Sreten, nice video as always. If you want, i can give you technical graphite trims for free :).

Another super informative video Sreten, thank you - that rain you had at the start, certainly portentous of the dreadful situation that unfolded - sending love to all those impacted.

Another good one, Sreten. Need to take the viewership count beyond the usual 200,000 views which seems to be the current average. If someone here has any insights regarding the same, kindly share. Cheers

I bought it some time ago on ebay, can't remember what it's called. Search for 3m ff zs scotch-brite. That one is great too

Difficult and not sure what else I could do, just need to upload and let yt algorithm do its thing.

Congratulation on the successful cloning of your M5 ;) after this video I am even more hyped on the series (cause I'll have to do all those things and more on my project and have no idea, yet) Also, another tip against burning bmw's: disconnect the heated windshield fluid nozzles. They tend to burn when they get old. Common problem on E39 and E38.

What?! You missed something... Which one belongs to your EVIL TWIN?

Anonymous

Hey there 🖖🏼👋🏼 Im very happy to der that you are locking so into tearing the engine apart :) I was hoping that you could do a berry very long and detailed video about the timing chain guides 😁

Great video (as always!) Are that original carpets in the driver side footwell? I know you're a busy man, but can I ask for your opinion on the F30/F31?

I was searching nice interior trim bars for my e39 back in the 2000s for months and I came to the conclusion, that "Gittergalvanik" give a nice touch to the interior. Grey, fitting to blue, relatively cheap but not boring. I tried it with original the original titan M5 design but they are 1. So expensive 2. Really touchy and sensitive/ easily destroyed and probably hard to find in good condition after so many years.

When you finish it i would like to buy it, of course if its up for sale.
