Hello good people! Got some exciting news!

A viewer emailed me recently and offered me to buy his E39 M5. I jumped out of my chair from joy when I saw the model and pictures. As some of you know, this is my favorite model and I've been looking for another one for a long time to restore on the channel.

It's located in Skövde, Sweden and it's very similar to mine. 2001, Facelift finished in Le Mans blue which is my favorite color, over Le Mans blue interior which is my least favorite interior along with Imola red inserts on the seats, but beggars can't be choosers.
But it's a slicktop like mine! No stupid sunroof! Fun fact, only 26% of all E39 M5s came without a sunroof and only in Euro-spec form so they are fairly rare.

It's been off the road since 2012 which I really like, means it will need some love and I'd take a neglected example over a garage queen any day of the week. Stored indoors, 220.000 km which is nothing for S62 engine, original Swedish car, has service history, 3 keys and supposedly rust-free. The guy seems really nice, has a growing family so the car was put on the back-burner as it should.
The plan would be to refresh this beauty fully and do things I did to mine before I started YouTubing, thorough service of the engine, complete suspension, headlights, rims...

I'm happy paying his asking price and just trying to figure out when I can go to see it cause I really want to make another car buying road trip video, I love making those. It's still quite cold in Sweden and with Covid restrictions might be difficult, but there are direct flights from Frankfurt so we are thinking in 1-2 months' time it should be doable.

This also means I'll have to sell one of the current cars in order to fully finance this project, probably project Marseille, E31 850i after I get it running. I'm hoping for that not to happen since I want to go all the way with that project, but if I have to choose it's the M5, that said let's see what happens in the upcoming months.

In other news, there should be a new video this week on project Raleigh, E60 M5. I'm also in talks with Falken tires to get them as one of the sponsors on the channel and provide rubber for projects which would be awesome.

Stay frosty!

Ooh, do love me an E39. Swedish car and “Rust free” is always suspect though.

That would be an awesome project, my favourite M5 and in the best colour !

Very, very cool. If the car is in Stockholm area I could ask a mate to go and see it and share pics/video if that would help you.

Looks beautiful, hope it looks the same underneath.

Don’t worry I will buy your E31!

I love the E39 M5!! Can’t wait for this video!

Very good opportunity I'd say! COVID has sadly screwed up a lot.

😍😍love it,after my E28,E39's are my favourite 5 series. Sreten, your passion for these cars and fixing them up gets all the right attention,so hopefully you'll get Falken to sponsor the channel and more companies will jump aboard with various other sponsorships. All the best,we'll always be here to support you

You got caught by the BMW virus! It’s spreading in your garage! 😂

Looks very clean for 220,00K car! Have the rod bearing been done? Blue seat inserts seems rare also; don't think I've seen a BMW with that option before. Good Luck!

I assumed it was a V10 with the rod bearing question. On 2nd look it not a V10 is it?

My heart is always with the beautiful 8-series with the V-12 and is a car I've always wished to own. I've been looking forward to the restoration of that 850i, but I know everyone has their favorites and it's not always the same as mine. I enjoy whatever you do, but I hope you can do both cars!

Love it! Should you come to sell it again, please let me know! I’ve been lusting after one of these and if you worked it over, it couldn’t be better.

BTW, you should learn how to do the bodywork and paint on cars. With your skill level, I think you would actually find that it isn't that hard and there's great satisfaction in laying down a gleaming, fresh paint job. It would also add an extra level of content for your channel as well as saving you a LOT of money! Think about it! Plus, we'd get some very funny videos while you were learning, so... win-win!!!! :D

Nice! Looking forward to this series especially and your tipps for woking on the E39 M5. An hopefully I can use all of them on my own M5 project soon. :)

Thanks :) But I think that's one of the skills that require a lot of experience, practice, proper equipment and paint booth. It would simply take too much time to get it to the level I want it to be and it's not something I would enjoy so I'd rather leave that part to professionals :)

Wow! I just love the E39 M5. Fingers crossed for this project. Also, I live in Stockholm and I am happy to assist you with practical matters such as advice on covid regulations in Sweden, how to get to Skövde, practical matters on buying cars in Sweden etc etc. Feel free to send a PM! Cheers, Patrik

I can’t wait to see this happening!

Excelente!! Looking forward to those videos!

Nice catch! As someone also living in Sweden, I would also be happy to assist with anything if needed, similarly to Patrik :)

Sweet find! Been looking for an E39 M5 like this myself in Sweden for a while. I'd be lying saying that I'm not jealous right now :)

Anonymous

To be honest i am a little bit jealous but in positive way. I am desperately in love with e39 m5 but i cannot afford to buy it right now, so it will be a pleasure to watch Dr. Sreten with another crazy restoration surgery :)

m539restorations

Man, I know that feeling and I hate it, so I'm sorry. But hey, it'll be for sale once restored, I can't afford to keep 2 of them :)

Beautiful car - can't wait to see the videos for this restoration. Are you going to keep the Smurf sunshade on the rear left window? ;)

Nismo

Wow, so cool! I remember seeing in the comments how you wanted another E39 project car and now one has found you! Can you wish for a E24 6 Series? Maybe one will show up soon too haha 😄

Road trip video plus some love from Sreten for this baby? Can't wait!

I also live in Sweden and if you want help checking up owner history etc just PM me. My sister, also a BMW-fanatic, lives in Skövde hehe. Happy to assist if you need help.

YES to the possibility of some more E39 M5 videos! I'm really enjoying your excellent & entertaining E60 series right now but the preservation of E39 M5s should be a global UN priority, a religious imperative, every citizen's duty etc. etc.

I had one then had to sell it after 2 years... the pain is real.

Anonymous

Looks like it previously had Bruyere-club trim judging by the handbrake lever, which would have looked horrid in combination with the blue/black sport seats :P Looks good when paired with Champagne/Caramel interiors though

Is it weird that I read this in your voice? LOL

Man, i was looking for a year last year for a blue one to come up for sale in Canada and i missed one it was sold in a day. Ended up settling on titanium silver. But you have two of them now. Considering how much they appreciated just this year that's crazy to me lol. But cant wait to watch the videos.
