The long-anticipated part 2 of project Raleigh is finally here! This is the longest video I made to date that took the most time, effort and money to create.

It's all about the S85 V10 engine in this one. We are starting with the number one item with this car and that is the rod bearings. I had to make sure the engine is in good condition before I dump more money into it.
There is no such thing as cheap with this beast, parts are simply expensive and towards the end of the video, you can see what was spent on parts to get it to this point. Maybe now it makes more sense why it took so long to get the ball rolling with this project.

I've never received so much pressure to release a video as I did for this one and I took my time with it, I wanted to do it properly without rushing it and man am I proud of the final outcome. Certainly one of my favorite videos!

As per usual, I tried to make it fast-paced, filled with details and entertaining. Do let me know how you like it.

I can't wait to drive this thing on the Autobahn and we are one step closer to that goal!

1 hour and 16 minutes? Do I need to take a day off now to watch your video's?! Haha, love it!

Anonymous

Omg! You’ve outdone yourself on this one. Can’t wait to watch! Thanks Sreten!

Anonymous

Should be a good one! Also very telling of your excellent priorities (the mechanics), as I see that the M badge still hasn't moved haha!

Anonymous

This kind of production deserves every Patreon penny.

Anonymous

Yes yes yes, can’t wait to watch!

Sreten is a true automotive legend, I say!! My favourite line in this vid... 'You can't comfortably fart in here' . I had baited breath every time you replaced a bearing, that took more courage than I could muster. Seriously.. well done sir, well done. Also, just loved the video as whole and the BMW mechanic skit was hilarious. Thank you once again.

Anonymous

Loved it. Now let’s source a high mileage E39 M5 and do it top to bottom, front to rear to do your channel’s name justice.

Sif

Are there any BMWs models out there that you see as too much of a hassle to work on?

Anonymous

Jasper maters He should for real!

Incredible video, I just watched the whole thing and I’m inspired to work on my own projects as usual. Keep up the great work!

Anonymous

Amazing video, I learnt so much, thanks. BTW watch those dangling hoodie cords over a running engine !!!

Anonymous

Well worth the wait, enjoyed every second. These videos are by far the best of their kind anywhere in the universe 😀

Anonymous

Epic work. I wish I had a fraction of your talent. Those parts are ridiculously expensive!

Anonymous

I learned a lot but also laughed along the way. Fantastic!

Worth the wait! Job well done! Amazing video as always, can't wait for more.

I'm searching every day for one, but so difficult to find a good project car. I'll be doing some maintenance on mine so there will be a video on it in March.

The sheer amount of time and effort that goes into the videos is second to none, very excited for the next one!

John McCormick

Even some Ferraris sound like diesel engines when they are idling but make up for it at higher RPM.

Magnus von Brömsen

I laughed after just a few minutes :) This is so enjoyable to watch. Don't understand how you remember where every thing goes back...

As someone who used to work in a BMW dealer parts department, then at an online parts sales website, I hope to hell that you have a really, really good wholesale discount.

Anonymous

Excellent video and the BMW engineer skit was superb 👍

Anonymous

Great video man! Keep up the good work, maybe I'm comming to visit you, currently I'm searching for an E46 325i in decent condition from Germany at a decent price.

m539restorations

I get a 10% discount on original parts from my local BMW dealer and then the rest I buy on Daparto.de at regular prices.

Anonymous

Great video, really enjoyed it.

Anonymous

Didn't you already have a support bar for the engine? I thought you used one on the E46?

Anonymous

That is one complex machine. Nice work.

Anonymous

Is there anything that bugs you with this being the US version of the car? Im guessing stuff like the rear licenceplate holder could be swapped to EU spec if needed

Anonymous

Very fun and educational video, as always. Great stuff! Thank you!

Anonymous

Make the videos longer 😂😂

Anonymous

Coooooming up! Love your videos, keep up great work! Edit: Over 1 hour of car porn, love you man!

Anonymous

Awesome video Sreten. Difficult to remember that not only are you doing that really tricky mechanical task but simultaneously making quality entertainment for hundreds of thousands of viewers. My wife asks me what I find interesting in watching some random bloke changing rod bearings in an old Beemer. I can’t really answer her.

I can’t stop laughing with Hans and his collegue. This is the best YouTube Channel I ve ever seen in my life. Keep it going Sreten!!!

Nismo

You brilliant madman! Your best video yet! The Hans and Knock sketch was hilarious. As was the garage door part, sorry to laugh at your misfortune lol. Love the pace and length of your videos, I don't understand Youtube's "algorithms" for content creators but I hope you can make it work and be successful!

I'd love to see a complete rebuild and refresh of n E46 330i ZHP or M3. Those are such amazing cars. You could do a Patreon supporter poll where we vote on 5 different BMWs for you to rebuild!

Anonymous

Well done! You are a braver man than I to do the rod bearing change. Good catch on the Vanos pump, a lot of mechanics would have missed that based on the undamaged crank. I can only imagine what the BMW dealership labor would have been $$$$. Again, well done!

Anonymous

Finally Im a Patreon.... Thank you Sreten for the great content,I almost fell off my couch with the Hans sketch 🤣🤣🤣.You do have a lot of patience working on these cars.....oh you have to take this to the Green Hell

Jose Martinez

Really loving this E60 restoration and it’s quickly becoming my favorite that’s why I chose my level of support at the V10 level, gotta love that engine. You are a brave man for undertaking this level of restoration and I commend you for this. I love BMW’s, but have only ever had a 320i which I unfortunately had to let go due to this goddamn pandemic. I’m saving up for an upgrade when the times are better, but for the moment I’m living vicariously through your awesome adventures. Love your channel, and thanks for the top notch content and witty reparte!

Svaka cast majstore!! 👍

I absolutely love your videos... decided today to become a Patreon to support your amazing videos. Cheers!

Just wanted to say thanks for the great videos. I‘m not sure why I‘m intrigued by a man getting dirty with old BMWs, but here we are. Cheers and best of luck.

Anonymous

Sreten, when you say above that the rod bearing are (were!) the number 1 issue with this car, did you mean with the S85 engine or THIS particular car? That was such an amazing surgical-level procedure!

Anonymous

Well, that would seem to be a pretty big design/engineering f***-up on BMW's part. When you go to the point where you revealed the cracked ring and the missing pieces that had scored the impellers in the oil pump, it was pretty gnarly. Still hard to imagine what would crack a metal ring like that. I'd be curious about how many of these are sitting in junkyards because of the issue.
