First of all, since posting up the last video and announcing I'm going full-time, we gained a lot more Patreons and I want to thank you all so much for your generous support and for being here! It's greatly appreciated!

The new project; around the time I posted part 2 of project Karlsruhe, a very nice subscriber from the Netherlands reached out and told me about his 1991 E32 750iL that's been sitting for around 6 years in his backyard and was thinking to scrap it, but wanted to see if I maybe wanted to use it for parts first. I, of course, said yes!

But here's the kicker, it's not just any E32 750iL, it's the top of the line Highline model! The rarest and most expensive E32 back in the day. Highline was a 20.000 Deutsche Mark option only available on 750iL models and included luxuries for the rear passengers such as: walnut veneer folding tables, fridge with 2 champagne glasses, dual climate controls, heated power seats, sun shades, rear radio controls, leg rests, etc... essentially loaded like project Dubai. They are super rare and sought after with estimated 5.000 examples made only in Euro-spec (it was not sold in North America).
And he wants nothing for it, just told me to pick it up whenever which is just incredible! He had it for 12 years, used it well and enjoyed it over the years, but then the car started having some electrical issues so he parked it.

Obviously, using for parts such fine and rare specimen or even worse scrapping it, would be the crime of the highest order. Finished in Bordeaux (Brokarot) over black leather interior, it's a stunning combo. He told me he had a lot of fond memories with the car and drove it all over the place so I promised him I'd do whatever I can to try and put it back on the road and then come back and let him drive it.

I know that the paint is shot and it'll need everything mechanically, but the biggest decisive factory whether I restore it or not will be, as always, rust. If the body is too far gone and rusted all over the place, then it might not make much sense, but if it's anything similar to project Karlsruhe, I'm definitely putting that thing back on the road. A thorough inspection of the body and undercarriage will be first on the list.

Now, if I do decide to restore it, that will come a lot later, not anytime soon because I'm already restoring one E32 and I want to work on other models once that one is done. I'll see if I can get it running and driving somewhat soon though just to make it easier to move it around, but we'll see.

The car and the very generous owner are located in a small town called Gasselte (still not sure how to pronounce it correctly) and should be picked up this week and brought to me in Frankfurt. I'm still kinda in disbelief he'd give the car to me when he could've easily gotten a few thousand for it, but he said he loved my passion for these cars and he was happy to do it. I'm just super grateful and thrilled to hear that and will try to do right by the car.

I'll post more pictures once it's here!

Oh wow, a car from my country! Small world. The projects just don’t stop coming. 2021 is shaping up to be one hell of an exciting year!

Great to hear! And very nice of this person to donate the car, from one Dutchie to another: Ontzettend leuk, bedankt! Hopelijk kan Sreten er iets moois van maken!

Woah, that's one generous offer! Curious to see if it's possible to save that awesome land yacht

Unbelievable. I might have to up my Patreon tier to V12...

It looks amazing! From a northern scandinavian viewpoint, I'm blown away by the conditions of the cars you buy down on the continent. A rustbucket for you would propably count as unusually good up here. My latest project would give you rust-nightmares for months!

That's a wonderful gift! I hope it's any good. Looks like the previous owner got it in 2009 and used it for about three years until the MOT/TUV/APK ran out in july 2012

I like the dark red colors of BMW. It will be a stunner! Check out "canyonrot metallic". I believe its pretty rare but I love it.

Huge respect for the guy.

You got that by looking up the plates? I didn't want to bug him with details and asking too many questions, but cool to know that, means it was sitting even longer.

Gasselte is only 30 kilometers from my hometown! If I only knew! 😂 The license plate tells me that this car is originally delivered new in the Netherlands in 1991, which is very rare! Most classic BMW’s you see in the Netherlands are imported from another country.

m539restorations

Really cool! But how are you on salt? Hopefully not insane like Germans that salt the roads all winter long like it's free 😁

My fingers are crossed there's bugger all rust, I'd love to see this rare, classic rolling again! And what luck, to have such awesome support from your subscriber. A massive hats off to that chap!

Great news! Kudos to last owner! Hope it's not rusted so you can put that beauty back on the road! Fingers crossed and thumbs up!

Nice and even better free, although “electrical issues” sounds like fun! Well done on the new Patreon’s too, well deserved 👍

Going full time restoration and already collecting BMWs like Pokemons, love to see it :)

Thats awesome!!! I looked up the license plate and it had the same owner since 18-4-2009.

Ran across this weird site as I was googling this car to learn more about its history http://e32highline.com/

Sorry about this, but I need to see this in your garage. The legendary 767 Goldfisch https://bringatrailer.com/2019/04/04/unobtainium-1987-bmw-767il-goldfisch-v16/ Sreten, I'm not sure if you're aware of BaT, but here in the states it's a very dangerous site for car lovers. My daughter bought her beautiuful '92 E30 325ic on the site. You'll regularly see '71-'73 2002s got for over $40,000. It's insane.

m539restorations

Ah, the goldfisch, only one prototype was made and it's with BMW. I was told by one person on the inside that it currently doesn't run and they can't get it fixed. All design papers for it are gone and old mechanics retired or, well, dead. I'd kill to get my hands on it. I'm well aware of BaT.

This is fantastic. You're the first person I've supported on Patreon, and it feels good to finally be contributing something rather than just enjoying for free. You mentioned in Part 1 of Project Marseille that at some point you'll answer a bunch of questions (because we ask a lot!). I have one to add to the pile: when you buy a car without being there in person, such as Marseille, how do you pay for it? I'm guessing bank transfer, but you must have to either time it so the seller gets the money right before the transporter turns up, or just hope that they don't run off with your money! Anyway, best of luck with the channel. Looking forward to seeing all the current and future projects.

m539restorations

Thank you! Bank transfer which typically takes few days to process so you can't time it. I always make a sales contract with the seller first, both of us sign it and then I send the money. But in the end, you can't do anything with that contract and if he wants to trick you, he can easily. It all comes to trusting the seller and I always follow my instinct there, if I have even the slightest doubt, then I find a different way and just send the deposit. This is why I always advise against buying cars like this as it involves a lot of risk.

Congratulations! That one looks to be in need of quite some TLC. Really special spec, Highline. Seems like something of a predecessor of the E38 L7. You have quite some V12 expertise by now, Sreten. Best of luck with the project!

When you start following your dreams, things just seem to fall into place, and the universe moves asade for you to shine.

First time Patron here too (ever)! Your effort just made me keeping watching and inspiring me to chase my dream and quit my job (one day....)! This E32 will definitely be spot on and I can't wait for your update and the Part 1! Keep that up Sreten! Just a quick question, is that very hard / rare to get some special models with bad condition (no rush please haha) and with relatively low price (e.g. 850CSi, Alpina B12 E32/38)? That would be superb if ever there's one!

Anonymous

This is awesome! I don't even own a BMW or really plan on buying one as I am too much of a Toyota fanboy, but I absolutely love all your content!

Love the rims! 😍

m539restorations

Thank you! That would be a dream find, I'd actually prefer barn-find one of those than mint condition, but super difficult to find them in such shape.

Anonymous

YES ! This is a nice looking one. Nice color, very nice rims. Good of the owner to give it into your hands. Rust is really a party pooper.

I think this time there's a bit more missing to the rear damper bombs than just a drop of pentosin :-) Boyo, the inside is a complete refurb job on its own. Thumps up and keeping them crossed that the rust issue is not a real one here. Still I don't comprehend how owners who obviously loved their cars are able to one day just park them in the garden and let Mother Nature have a go at it.
