Let's look at my mod folder first, notice that I'm messy, my organization is really the bare minimum and has a lot of rooms for improvement. Also, this is a tutorial so I didn't organize stuff properly before doing the merge. As I said before, it's the number of packages not the size of the folder that kills the game, so that's the thing you need to keep low. Some stuff are better not be merged:

I was literally about to try merging my cc for the first time today and was a lil unsure about it. So this is very well timed and helpful 🙏🏻 Thank you!

It's nothing complicated or definitive. Apart from not touching the original files S4Studio also does a backup of them... so you have many ways to get back the files if something doesn't work.

Thank you very much for your tutorial. I have one more question. Is it a problem to merge packages that are already merged by the creator with other packages?

zer0_Mods_

I merge some of them. Some of them are big so I keep those unmerged. I didn't experience problems but do some testing, if you're missing something or something stops working you still have the backup.

Thank you for this tutorial. I've been considering merging my CC and Build-Buy items for awhile now, but I didn't understand the S4S merge file process. Thank you for explaining it to me.

For example: I use this to bundle stuff, that I absolutely cannot live without example Luumias body hair, and don't panic you can unmerge them. With the same tool.

Would you consider skins as a mod? Can I merge them?

instantmagic

yeah, don't merge default thins. Non-default should be able to unless you want to take it out later, this is the key to merging, if you later want to take it out, I wouldn't merge because that makes it really hard to remove later.
