Love this!!! Thank you for answering my question. I also just had a friend get into the Antioch PsyD program this week. Means a lot to hear from your mentor, Dr Honda! Especially with his diagnosis and choices regarding that

This episode was inspiring for me. I work at a higher education institution, I was thinking of ways to motivate students. This semester I'm thinking of using a grading system that works for students here. I feel encouraged. Sorry to hear about the disease. All options are bad but it's comforting to know there is one that works for Dr. Paul. It sounds like he knows what he is dealing with after his experience with his mother and grandmother. Hopefully better support systems will be developed in the future, like the one in Switzerland or other types. Apparently the world is aging, so we have to come up with compassionate ways to deal with how life ends. I'm personally terrified about being incapacitated in that phase. Thanks for talking about all that.

This was beautiful and sad. I kept thinking of Dr. Honda and how he is doing with the future loss of his mentor. I am so sorry for your mentor’s struggle, this is really hard and heartbreaking.

I enjoyed all my classes at Antioch and don’t regret my education there. However wish someone had told me that not having a GPA would hamstring my chances of getting into PhD/PsyD programs unless you go to Antioch or one of the very very small number of schools that don’t base admissions on GPA. The rest of them replace all narrative evaluations with a course having a 2.50 gpa (if I had known I would have ended up a B student anyway I would have phoned more of my assignments in) 🤫I thinkit’s all going to work out though since I’m getting my master’s from another school instead of going straight into doctorate now. Just a bit irritated about no one telling us that would happen.

Wow what an episode, this one is going to stick with me. I've never heard someone talk about planning their death. I wonder if he would consider attending his own funeral before the fall. Thank you for sharing, Dr. Kirk!
